I got Fortune III Efficiency IV Unbreaking III the other day.... it's all I've been using, and it feels like I have to spend 45 EXP levels every two hours to keep it from breaking.

If the wiki didn't say otherwise, I'd be convinced enchantment potency wears off some with each repair

 

It sure seems that way. I have a pickaxe with those chants on my normal world. Pretty nice to have.

I only ever use diamond pickaxes for mining gold/diamond/emeralds though really. Not sure if I should use it for iron or other things as well.

Some may argue I'm wasting materials/resources, but so many other resources are so abundant.

It's not wasting imo. I've used about 10 diamonds for my one pickaxe (including those I used to repair it), and I've mined over 10 blocks of diamonds, almost two stacks of 64. Not including the several dozen stacks of iron, couple stacks of gold, and two stacks of emeralds

I modified the appearance for better performance.

Also, just found an epic monster spawner. One of the creepers that spawned (quickly...) blew up one of the chests.

Yes.. there were 2 chests next to this spawner.

Picked up a music disk out of the chest that was left over.
