Do I have ADHD?

I've been thinking of posting this for a long time, and it's finally happened. I always wonder if I have ADHD sometimes. It's really bothering me and I'd really like to know if I do. The problem is I don't feel like going to a doctor for this.

Some symptoms (from http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/adhd/howdoiknowifihaveadhd.htm):

- I cannot concentrate in school. Along with that, when someone is talking, I have trouble listening to them. When I realize that I'm not concentrating, I just say "Huh?" or "Repeat that".

- I can remember things that happened from 6 years, but I sometimes forget something that's happened a few minutes ago.

- I don't think before I talk (I say the DUMBEST shit ever sometimes)

- I'm restless and cannot sit still for as long as others

- I am known to have a hot temper; my mood also swings a lot.

- I get bored a lot

- I used to be so disorganized but I managed to fix that.

- I don't know what to do in a difficult situation

I also would like to mention that I'm a computer addict, and I usually don't wanna get off of it not even if it's so late.

If any of you could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

 

May I ask how old are you?
I used to be like that when I was 8-14 (something like that) but I kind of just matured and grew out of it.

You're best off seeing a doctor, as none of us hear will accurately be able to diagnose you

 

Stop spending so much time on the PC for a start, that's not doing you any good anyways.

I don't know how being diagnosed works in Egypt but normally you would go and see your doctor and explain what you think is wrong. He'll ask you a few questions and may refer you to a psychiatrist for further diagnosis. Note that (at least in the UK) you cannot be diagnosed with something if you currently have an addiction or are on alcohol/drug abuse. It may be different for your country though.

 

@Shoop: I'm 15 years old.

@Laptop: Yeah, it works like that in Egypt as well. The problem is the doctors may give you false information and just screw you over. Trust me, I've also tried spending too much on my computer but that didn't work out too well. I started going to the gym and then just stopped again.

 

Has anyone else in your family been diagnosed with ADHD in the past?

 

I won't really bother asking any of my family members; they probably don't know what it is. Most Egyptians don't speak good English.

 

I would recommend going to see a doctor and not asking for a medical diagnosis here. Would be the best bet.

 

Over one million children between the ages of 4 and 17 have been misdiagnosed with ADHD; the yearly rate, too, is outrageous. Clearly you should consult a lisenced physician; they'll be able to medicate you if necessary to help you concentrate in school and such. Even if you don't have ADHD, what you'd potentially be prescribed would help you concentrate regardless.

 

Sounds like it, at least enough to get tested. Like the other stated though get diagnosed and tested before making assumptions

I agree with Elena. You might not want to go to a doctor regarding your supposed ADHD, but it's better than reading some symptoms online and speculating whether you have ADHD or not. It's also better than getting people on an online forum to tell you whether you have ADHD or not. This kind of stuff requires a doctor's prognosis. I doubt any one of us here are doctors.
So please mate, before you worry yourself to death, go see a doctor. I'm sure there are decent doctors in Egypt, or wherever you live.

This stuff is a norm for me EVERY DAY (other than the school part) But you need to go to the doctor and tell them, and maybe they can give you meds to help with it.

I was prescribed adderall, and it's amazing it really helps you concentrate and would really help with a lot of that.

I'm no doctor but you go through a lot of the same things i do, and i have adhd.

Another example of me, i'm playing call of duty with my team, and i either see someone, or die, and try to make the call out for where they are, and IN MY HEAD i know EXACTLY where they are, but the words just don't come out, till it's not even worth calling anymore....so i know how you feel dude.

Hopefully you can get it all sorted out and get on some meds

 

Just wanted to say that ADHD is the most common self-misdiagnosed syndrome.
It's quite an amazing phenomenon:
Many of my mother's patient's parents have come to her with concerns of their child having ADHD.
I have told many of my friends what ADHD is for their first time, and I can say with certainty, most of them told me within a minute or two that they think they might have ADHD.

On your case, you shouldn't go see a doctor for this matter, you should go see an educational psychologist. ADHD is relevant to the field of psychopedagogy

 

Mood swings are more prone to Bipolar disorder rather then ADHD. Also not knowing that to do in a tough situation has nothing to do with ADHD, According to doctors I have "ADD, ADHD, And Tendency to bipolar". I share many of the things you do, but I had to point out those two have little to do with ADHD. Also meds aren't required for some people. I used to take Ridlin, Then Adarael, then Syraquil. Now I haven't taken a pill in about two years. Best of luck.

 

May seem off topic, but how much water do you drink per day? Water intake directly affects concentration and memory, and a lot of issues directly stem from a lack of water.

 

If you are ever in need of medical advice I STRONGLY advise you to go see a doctor. A checklist from webMD means absolutely nothing. You can go on there with flue symptoms and have webMD tell you have may have terminal cancer lol. If you do have a mental disorder a doctor will be able to give you the medication you might need to sort it all out. Don't ask a bunch of gamers for medical advice =P.

 

You have all the exact same problems as me, but I have been diagnosed with aspergers and ADHD.

 

Going to a doctor would be a nice way to go, save some money.
