Firstly know I ONLY listend to rap before i mean nothing else i mean hardcore like eazy,e tupac , all that shit you know what i mean i sorta recently like couple months ago discovered jhonny cash in a video game tailer for prey 2 i feel so stupid for not knowing him earlier his music is fucking incredible. I've changed from rap to now listening to him and i can't stop his music is so real and just insane.

Johnny cash is a fucking god. I love his music. It's nice to see people who are into rap/pop/other discover other forms of music like johnny cash and really connect to it.

Ehhhh you've probably linked his worst song. The Nine Inch Nails version is better.

 

You only say that because you are a massive NIN fan, I personally find this one of his best, most emotional songs.

This is another of my favourites and I know it's one of my father's as well.

 

He's awesome. Try listening to some of his rockabilly songs.

 

I've got one of his albums in my motor, I enjoy listening to it when I'm stressed, it's just the country element.

 

Anything that NIN does is nails on a chalkboard to me, and this is no exception. I have no idea how you can like it better than the Johnny Cash version.

No other version could parallel the emotional impact that the Johnny Cash version carries.

 

Idk I always just feel that the original has more feeling. Cash's cover is too weepy.

I agree with verts, and I don't think that cover would leave as much of a haunting legacy if he hadn't of died months after it was made. I remember it was popular as shit for some time on MTV and the radio all the way to his death, I wonder if he knew? It's good, don't get me wrong, but Trent reznor's original version is what the song should have been, it's almost perfection.. I'm thinking most people heard the cover first!

Hurt by Cash is ok but it kind of breaks his mould a little bit.

The music he used to make was unbelievable. I have listened to him since I was born (car journeys etc) and I am sure I will listening to him up to the day I die.

 

No one in the rap game is as good as chief keef

 

Huge fan of legend Cash myself, personal favorite is Men in Black.

Also, the Nine Inch Nails version of "Hurt" has a better feeling to me. I enjoy listening to Johnny Cash, but Nine Inch Nails did an amazing job on the track.

 

I understand Nine Inch Nails wrote the song, but I don't think Trent had any business singing or writing about how hard and difficult life is and put on the whole "poor me" shit because he didn't live that. The song fit Johnny Cash better (with the exception of the heroin part). It's like me writing a song and allowing Lil' Wayne to use and increase his fame with it. Sure, I can try and say "OH! BUT I WROTE IT!" but the fact is that it obviously wasn't good enough until he used it, otherwise I could have taken all the credit myself.

Johnny Cash is incredible. I like Social Distortion. This just doesn't work with me for some reason.
