    Hey guys!

I am in search for a computer to play runescape on.

Right now I am on a laptop and it does the job but I want a computer that will run old school Runescape perfectly. Runescape 2007 is the only gaming I do so I don't need to go all out on an expensive gaming computer. I just want to know what would be best to run runescape.

Also my friend thinks I should just build up a cheap gaming pc but I was wondering If I would be fine just buying a regular pc from internet/best buy/ ect.

Let me know what I should do, thanks!

Building your own PC is much more price efficient. Could easily get a PC thatd run RS+ many other games pre well for $600ish. I'm too busy to spec up atm, but if someone else hasn't done one by the time im free i can.

How much you looking to spend?

It's missing the disk-drive still... You need a least a DVD reader to install a Windows software (unless you install from USB).

Disk drives are like £20 these days, hardly anything to worry about. If you're ONLY running RS 2007 then you won't have to spend a ton on your PC. Will you be building it or a friend?

Also, your signature is a tad tall over the limit, make sure its sure its within these limits - http://puu.sh/6oVN

The first build would do fine, but it could only handle light gaming if you ever wanted to start playing anything else. I would personally, go with the second one just to make it a bit more universal at a loss of a little less CPU power.

The CPU is a high speed quad core, it will run fine.
The GPU is a 7660D which is NOT bad.
IF you plan to add a GPU later on, it will be totally fine, but an i3 3220 and a 6670 now then upgrading to a 8770 or whatever when it comes out, is a great idea, but will cost abit more.

Oh, I will never deny that the 965 is an awesome processor. It's been great since release and still a damn solid choice. The 5800k would edge it out a bit performance wise. That's all I meant. Sadly though, 7660D only goes so far. The APUs are pretty nifty because they can do some light gaming, but most modern games can strain the card at Med+ settings. Going the Dual Graphics route will help some, but not a great deal at all. I've had woes with APUs in the past.

Whats your budget look like? I suggest buying a prebuilt computer if you are just playing runescape. It is often more expensive to buy the parts and figure out how to assemble it without messing everything up than just buying a prebuilt from cost-co or something. If you have a $1000 budget or around there send me a PM I can give you some ideas.

Yes I was strongly considering just buying a prebuilt due to the fact that ALL I play is runescape 2007 which really doesnt need much to run. If I were to go this route what brands do you recommend? Budget would be anywhere from $250-$450

    Thanks for the advice guys!

Actually, with the cost of dell and gateway computers, you can get a very cheap refurbished computer for around 300 dollars (which, for any computer builder, a windows license is about 150. The reason Dell and HP and Asus and Lenovo are so much cheaper is because they have their own OEM). Check out newegg's refurbished list, you may find a winner there.

Most computers can run RuneScape in it's current state. Plan ahead though, don't cheap yourself out only to need a new rig in a couple of years. I'd recommend looking for the following:

AMD is cheaper than Intel, so an AMD Phenom or newer processor (at least 4 cores).
8 GB ram. 4 is really all that is needed, but 8 will last much longer. With this you must also have a 64 bit OS (if you buy from a dealer it most likely will be 64 bit).
At least 1GB dedicated video graphics.

If you want cheap and efficient and don't mind buying a new computer a few years down the road, something like this would work wonders:
