question on STR pure

Alright I started a str pure, up to 35 str now and noticing im not hitting shit. Cant see myself gettin str to 99. Should I just train attk, if so what level do you recomend. Just keeping it str pure.

When you say strength pure, do you mean your 1 attack? if so, get yourself a slayer staff, the best 1 attack weapon in the game, just as good as a rune scimitar.

 

Slayer staff like said above, and then get yourself an obby maul. Until then you'll constantly hit shit

 

I assume you are making a strength pure for pking purposes, and if that's so, most of your damage while pking should come from using a shortbow/knives, since they have a high attack speed and aren't affected by your attack level, with an obby maul being your KO weapon. Ideally, you don't need any attack because you are actually doing most of the in-fight damage with range

 

Over the past years of playing runescape i'v made my fair share of str pures.

Options were:

5 att
10 att
20 attack

20 attack is the MAX you'd want for an obby pure (str pure) but that was for corrupt stuff (not in the game)

so for 07 standards i'd say get no more than 10 attack if you want to stay a reasonable combat level and still have a super high str level.

Good luck on the account training, and remember to get 55 slayer for slayer staff.

 

I wouldn't spoil the account by getting any attack tbh, it just isn't needed IMO.

Get a Red Topaz Machete, and if you have the time, as others have said I'd highly recommend getting 55 Slayer.

Other than that, just stick to it and don't give in to the temptation to get your attack up - as soon as you hit 60 Strength you can use your maul and you'll be hitting very nice

 

make sure you can afford a glory and combat bracelet or get mith gloves, you really need those attack bonus's.

maybe even a warrior ring (for training only) if you can afford to, all this wont be a problem when you rather got the maul or slayer staff.

 

really not trying to get slayer up, would it make sense to get str to 60 then start ranging?

When I used to train it was slayer staff until 60strength then the obby maul. 1/99/1 pures are pretty fun tbh.

 

As everyone else has been saying. Slayer Staff is really effective. Also, if you don't mind. Let me know how this pure goes, pking and training wise.

I know that slayer can be a massive headache but I'd suggest using the following methods for it:-

- 1-9 Slayer (Varrock Museum)
- 9-30 Slayer (Cannoning tasks)
- 30 Slayer do One Small Favour quest (20K Slayer XP)
- Do all quests for Slayer XP & Random XP Lamps.
- Cannon the rest of the way from around 40/45 --> 55.

If you do this, you'll never have a reason to train attack because your staff is as good as a Rune Scim.

 

I hear what everyone is saying, and I completly agree slayer staff is prob best way to go, but I jus don gat tim fo dat right now. B/c you need the magic xp too.

Anyone have any idea how obby maul/60+ range would fair? My combat lvl would probably still be low, no?

You should use a combat calculator to make sure your range isn't combatting you.

With 1 attack/99 strength even 70 range combats you.

69 is as high as you can go.

 

I was going to wait untill 60 str to prevent lvling as much as possible.

 

Slayer is fun man, get that staff!
