    Having to deal with imposters....

I can't stand these kids, honestly.
Has anyone had any MAJOR troubles with imposters? Post your thoughts here, let's start a discussion.
What is the best way for confirmation PM's etc?

The real thing is, if you request a PM from an imposter he will most likely give excuses. Except those who have hacked an account. PM is the only most legitimate way as of right now.

^ What he said. copy skype chat aswell. Also if you have already traded with the buyer/seller via PP (example). Ask there pp e-mail if it match. Might work aswell. Most of the time they hack sythe/msn/skype, really doubt on PP account.

I rarely have any but i don't sell often. Ask for a PM if they say no i instantly don't sell to them.

I have been imposter'ed quite a bit as I was an OMM on MMOExchange.net when that was around. That's why mine exist. Its sad to hear that people get hit by them though. PM isn't 100% but its a lot more reliable than just skype.

I haven't got any imposters yet in the RuneScape Market yet.
For Steam, I had like 2.

What I always do when requesting PM is this:

    Code:
Send me a PM on Sythe.Org

    Your RSN:
    Your Skype ID:
    My Skype ID:
    Your PayPal Email:
Paste 5 lines of the conversation:
With this, you have enough proof to get them banned from Sythe.Org. If they try to do a chargeback, you have their PayPal Email that they use to send you the money and you can use that as a proof that they have confirmed they are using that email to send you the money. If it doesn't match, you would automatically reject or just request for another PM asking him to type in the same PayPal Email he use. If he refuses, you can just refund him the money.

I will try implement this into future trades. This means, with that one PM and pictures of a chargeback screen you won't have to go out and take multiple screenshots of the Skype conversation also... Very good!

Not that way. I still do take screenshots of all my Skype Convo, In-Game trade.

Yeah fair enough, I understand what you mean though.. I have had to deal with a couple of third party imposter scams, so that PM would eliminate a few potential scams. thanks for your post

It's best to create like 50 potential impostor accounts to secure the names before you release the Skype address to the public. Keep the actual screenname as short as possible.
