Will gambling still exist?

With Jagex announcing today that all forms of gambling is now a bannable offence, I'm wondering how the gambling community will react. I know a lot of people play almost solely for the gambling aspect of the game so I doubt they'll go out quietly.

That being said, how much of an impact do you think this recent update will actually have on people looking to host/gamble? Will major gambling clans shut down or do you think they'll find safe ways to offer gambling/hosting with a low chance of getting caught? If so, how popular/safe do you think these "backroom" gambling clans will be?

 

I hope they die out, bunch of scum bags profiting off people retarded enough to take a gamble in favour of the host. If people want to gamble, they should train up their account and stake. I've also heard talk of Jagex planning to wipe the hosts they haven't banned, as some have accumulated over 100M gp.

 

Eh there is always gonna be some form of gambling going on. Just like botting it isn't ever going to completely die out no matter what they do.

Kinda funny that everyone hates it so much considering duel arena is all about gambling. You can try and justify it any way you want but the fact is it's just a bunch of percentages like any other form of gambling. Theres still people that try and manipulate rules and mislead to gain an advantage in duels.

 

Of course gambling will still exist. All people have to do is join an IRC chat and communicate there. Even if people do not trust IRC dice, new games can be orchestrated through the IRC chat. There is an infinite amount of games to gamble on.

 

Most likely over IRC or something external, however Jagex might crack down on people who randomly trade 100m to each other as they'd categorize it for RWT or gambling if they catch the slightest clue.

 

If people are getting mills from 2 players and then giving to one it's likely that they will track this. Might help the RS economy to stabilise a bit higher.

 

IRC gambling won't last long once Jagex finds out about the clans doing it. Down with them all.

 

Gambling will still exist. Only thing that made them change is that not to type the wager and call it out where everyone on Runescape could see but call it out in the IRC e.g. Swiftkit one so it will stay around but either way these people will still figure out a way on dicing and to make it work.
