In regards to Skype Hackings

Due to the recent spate of skype hackings, we now require a SYTHE PM, or a SYTHE POST confirming the Skype you're talking to in order for a scam report to be considered valid. This new evidence is required on top of the current requirements we have which can be found here: http://www.sythe.org/report-scammer/. Please take note of this warning, as we would hate for scam reports to be deemed invalid due to people neglecting this announcement.

Sufficient reports that do not follow the new requirement will still result in the account being banned until the situation is cleared up, but in order for the scammed user(s) to be eligible for reimbursement, there must be a Sythe PM.

Never quite understood why people don't request a PM on Sythe before trading

Is there no way you can move trades onto Sythe with the VB update?
It seems to be getting easier to scam folks round these parts.

And this is why we should all move to AIM. Good update to the rules though.

 

Sythe cannot regulate users and the programs they use. Dishonoring Skype altogether and proof of scams related to the use of Skype would defeat the purpose of what the announcement is trying to accomplish.

Per announcement, reports involving the usage of Skype and conversations from the program will still be considered, but a necessary PM being required in order for reimbursement purposes.

In my eyes, PM's should always be sent and information verified before trades move on to the next step, most generally with the assistance of an MM. More and more it seems people neglect the usage of both these services: PM's and MM's.

Hopefully this will open users eyes a bit more and make Sythe just a bit of a safer place to trade.

The hackers are exploiting the ease of Skype's recovery in order to "hack" the accounts. Sythe accounts aren't easy to hack unless the user being hacked is stupid enough to use the same password over multiple sites.

 

Now that should help crack down on Skype scammers, good job staff!
