Creating a Runescape Fansite

Would anyone be interested in creating a fansite with me and a few others? We would be basically a RuneHQ for old school only. We'd have a team of content people, and editors, updating our data on monsters, quests, items, etc.

It would be a lot of work, but it could also be a lot of reward. It would also have a forum and other things, for legitimate Runescape stuff, no cheating.

 

Sounds good, I wouldn't mind being apart of it. I haven't been able to play 07 fully because of school but once it cools down I'll be heaps active.

 

I'd also like to focus a LOT more on free guides/tutorials, unlike RuneHQ. Having pages and pages of free guides, as well as quest guides, monster databases, etc. is ideal for me.

 

I could volunteer to help out a little when I'm not busy with school/work...

I quit playing Runescape Dec 2012, but before I did I had an account that I maxed/completionist'd

 

What happend to the Wiki that was going to be put together? basically the same thing your asking to do

I'm not sure what happened with that, that was Tony's idea.

I really want to do this though. I'm about to start on some tools as well, such as skills calculators and stuff.

 

I would love to be a be part of this, been a member of many sites like this for many years, staff for a couple.
I like to develop content like guides and articles.

If anything lifts off and you need an extra pair of hands, would be happy to muck in, I have a good amount of spare time.

 

The 07 community needs this, been waiting for somebody to do it, since current sites support EoC which is much different in many aspects of the game

This sounds like a good idea, would love to contribute and help out in any way possible!
It'd be quite hard to manage, I'd assume you'd need a fair amount of people involved with this to keep it up to date.

Sounds like a great idea to me. Yes a lot of work. Is it going to work like a wiki, ie everyone updating/ building the database & guide?
But yeah will be a mad help to have a strictly 07 based site

Hi, I would really like to help out, i'm a web developer and can offer my services for free

I also have a full licence for IPBoard, the same forum software, wbot, and powerbot use with a really nice premium theme, I could offer up to you guys!

On-top of all that I can host the site for free if you guys have a domain, with unlimited disk space, and bandwidth.

 

Anyone who wants to help out, add mikemersereau on Skype. I could come up with tasks for anyone interested! This will be a completely community-developed project, by the players, for the players.

We could use guides for a plethora of things, including quest guides and so on. Although I'll write up a standards thing later so all quest guides are similar.

I've started working on a jQuery skill calculator. It needs a bit more work, but it's coming along nicely.

I have a good domain name idea, I will register it later today. I don't want to say what it is yet so no one else can grab it before I can.

 

Sounds really good! I remember using RuneHQ back in 2006, I loved the classic liiiiist of ITEMS and LIST of monsters on the side and the black/blue theme, please bring it back dudes!

This is something I'd be very interested in if I'd have part ownership. Have money to put into it if possible, have ideas ect.

 

I helped actively on a large fansite in the past, and it was all good for about 4 years until hackforums decided to kill it. If you needed any help with regular content updates etc I'd be willing.

 

Let me know if I can help with content to put in, Mike. I don't know anything about web developing but I've been playing RuneScape for quite some time.

Data we will need are NPC, monster, and item data (i.e. the number of HP a monster has, their max hit, their name, a picture of them, what they drop, etc).
