I don't know enough about the condition that they are holding him in to know if it is fair, just, or legal.

However, the guy broke the a clearly codified law. He leaked classified information, damaging the United States (his own country) and its citizens (the people who he is supposed to be fighting for).

I support greater transparency, whistleblowers, and even the occasional leak to keep the government in check, but this guy broke a just law and deserves to be punished.
