So... I just finally got around to uploading my most recent set of photos and... Well I just want to show off what I did... On flickr though, hope you don't mind.

    Edit: 5/10/13
Hey everyone! I'm back with a new set using my macro lens. I'm just looking for a little C&C. First time taking full advantage of macro lens and please take note that I did not use a tripod for ANY of this (I know I should). I have not renamed any of them as I am just looking to see what people think.

Anyways the first two are just the same photo with two different clarity settings (one is softer). The one with the ant is just a test of how close I could get in on the ant - that's about the size of a piece of 7mm graphite.

These were taken using a Canon XSi. The lens' varied by what I needed at the time. It ranged from a 18-55mm/55-250 and a 60mm macro lens.

I like the photo with the hawk in it the most ;) I've always wanted an XSi haha pretty lucky to have one.

That was from a scenic park near my house. I followed the hawk for a while to get a decent shot on it. ^_^ There are also deer around there normally (these deer don't have a problem being near humans), but I wasn't exactly looking for them.

No I'm not, although I did take a few classes in High School. I mainly do it as a hobby for enjoyment and relaxation. Most of the time, I just go out with a friend or two every once in a while and take pictures (I shoot a minimum of ~100 photos in a short time).

The first set, while my family and I were in Florida, was at a few different locations. Sunrises were taken from our balcony. The others were at a fruit/vegetable plantation that we visited while down there.

The second set was in NYC and areas near me.

I have many more pictures but I picked out a select few to see what people thought.

I am glad you enjoy them! It's nice to hear positive feedback! :) I plan on looking through the rest of my photos soon and see what else I can post.

With that one you should have shot lower to get the horizontal bar of the fence to create a better depth of field, but I understand just how difficult city shots are.

The others are ok, but the blur/bokeh effects are quite lacking, but I'm sure that's more a lens issue than a user issue.

For city shots you should really use the 50mm lens, makes everything personal and pulls some amazing shots with some fantastic BOKEH.

I was actually trying to get over the fence to cut that part out of the DOF. It was just a little too tall for me to get the shot over it (I thought I had before I got home and looked at it). :p

I'll upload a few ones right now. :)

Is this more what you were looking for mage? http://www.flickr.com/photos/szskateman22/8545328029/ Yes, I know I over compensated the saturations but I was trying to pull out the colours from the lower part while holding the blues from the sky.

There's some very good looking ones, you should pay more attention to exposure though. The hawk photo could have been brilliant if it weren't so dark. Nothing you can't touch up with photoshop, but as a raw image, it's exposure is just too low

Some nice city photos, if you have the money, you should look into tiltshift, they make for wonderful city photography

Hawk shot I have ~20 different pictures of it. I tweak most of my photos in photoshop, so I'll go turn it down now. Ehh... which Hawk one were you referring to? The RTH or RTH2?

I have looked into tiltshift (I love the idea), but it's very expensive. One lens = $1K (starts at 1250 USD). I have also looked into mock-shifts (fake tilt-shift lenses). I would rather get a better zoom lens with low f-stops first to feed my addiction for wild-life and action photography.
