If you had to pick one of these cars...

    A) Insurance will rape you as even though it is a v6 its considered a "sports car"
    B) Gas Will kill you being a v8 SUV.
    C) Great gas mileage and cheaper insurance that the two above.
    D) Would get good gas mileage, but are a bitch to get work done on and it is very expensive parts/repairs. Plus its a 2007 with a shit ton of miles.

I would choose C. Probably gets the best mileage and would have the cheapest insurance. But insurance Varies based on your age, sex, car, coverage, and location where you live. I would assume your getting liability?

If you had to pick one of these cars...

    A) Yeah, I owned a Mustang before and it was pretty expensive.
    B) Yes, but it fits 7 people (we have 6 people living here, plus dog - so it'd be nice), plus it fits my kayaks on the roof unlike any of the other options. It's 5 MPG less than my current car (combined city and highway).
    C) Yes but small car.
    D) Yes but small car.

I guess I'm leaning more towards the Durango since it would be better to have. Plus since I'm moving soon, all of that space will be nice to help during the move whereas a car would be useless.

I'm 18, male, Canada, would get full coverage. Yes, it will be expensive as fuck due to me being in a high-risk demographic.

Ya if you think you can afford the v8 durango then go for it. But insurance on any car is going to be high for you. Gas will suck but if you get the people who live with you to chip in when you go places that will be better than nothing. Is that the best deal you can find on a Durango?

It's one of the best deals I've seen on one in the area, yes. I will also be trading in my existing car for it, and can hopefully haggle a bit.

well then go for it. the gas costs is just a major turn off to me. Does no one else in your house have a car. Why do you need seating for 7 and a dog?

The most we have currently is a 5 seater. It's not a necessity, it's just a bonus.

Have you test driven either the durango or C. yet? test drive them both i know you want the durango but drive the other one too when you go to the dealership. You might like the way that the car drives. either car you get don't leave the lot without a full tank of gas and floor mats for whichever car you decide on. I don't know about where you live but here the cars don't always come with floor mats and they want to charge you an arm and leg for them.

I'd go with the SUV. I have one (not a durango) but you don't have to worry about snow and you can fit lots of friends in it and I only pay $120 a month for insurance.

Going to the dealership right after class. I'll most likely get the Durango if it passes inspection from my mechanic and drives good.

I'm a ski and kayak fanatic too, so the Durango is perfect for all of my equipment. I'm tired of needing to borrow my moms SUV to do it.

    B. All-round capability, large, good mileage, not too hasty on insurance.
It's also good for future prospects too. The Acura would've been a great choice too if you were just looking for a cheap car in good nick that'll tend to your needs without draining your pockets.

I was supposed to have a meeting with the bank yesterday to get a loan for it but she was sick. The meeting is supposed to be today, but I'm busy all weekend so not much time to go get the Durango.

    I'll let you guys know when/what I get. :)

dont tell them you're financing through your bank, if they ask tell them you dont know how you're financing. If they assume you'll finance with them they will cut down the price some.

The problem with a mustang for a guy that is under 26 is that it will screw you over for insurance. Especially since it will have to have full coverage since it is being financed. even though its a v6 it is still considered a "sports car" I have a 1990 mustang lx 4 banger when i turned 16 and the insurance was ridiculous even for liability.
