Sythe staff are going to collaborate to bring up a RS2007 wiki page, and we'd like to gauge interest in users becoming editors.

The job description of editors is as follows:
Publish pages on RS07 features
Update incorrect information on existing pages
Answer general questions from users
Get pictures for visual reference on all aspects of the wiki

If you're receiving this mass PM, it's because you expressed your interest on my Editor recruitment thread. The purpose of this message is to get out my mission statement to those who are vying for a position. Should you feel you're up to the mission, I look forward to handing you your Editor privileges. If you feel you're not up to the challenge, and this will be a time-consuming process at the very least, I understand, and you can opt out simply by ignoring this PM.

Moving on! If you are here, reading this, and willing to continue, the feast your eyes on the site you will be slaving over for the next span.

As I promised, here is our mission statement:

We will create a fully functional Wiki page dedicated to the release and complete content of Jagex LTD "OldSchool Runescape".

Phase I

We will create accurate HTML text pages with minimal formatting and design elements as a preliminary skeleton to our site. We'll start by creating as many pages as we can for specific content, and worry about organizing it later
Purpose: The goal is to get the ball rolling on this project so that we can get out of the "sitting-around-picking-our-noses" stage, and have a tangible resource that we're all capable of contributing to in our own time.
Projected time of completion: We should have this phase finished by the end of March, 2013. This target date is fluid, subject to change according to our rate of progress and level of dedication. I prefer we get the skeleton done as soon as possible.
Outcome: A completed skeleton. Green light for Phase II

Phase II

We will enhance the pages we've created with pictures. This phase is going to be very focused in that we will spend extra time reviewing every page we've created thus far, and we'll then update them with PERIOD-APPROPRIATE images. This means all images we use MUST be from the 2007 version of the game, in all it's low-res graphic glory. We will also spend time organizing, cross-referencing with inter-site links, and pruning unneeded resources while adding any we've missed.
Purpose: The resource will have much easier-to-understand instructions, illustrations, explanations, and examples. It will be much more visually appealing for the passer-by, and will hopefully snag activity through usefulness and sound design.
Projected time of completion: Upon starting this phase, we shouldn't have to spend any longer than 2 week fully updating every article with the appropriate images since we will no longer have to be coming up with the subjects. Time management will be handled in such a way that everyone carries their weight and we finish ASAP as a team.
Outcome: An enhanced version of our HTML text Wiki resource. A BETA version for non-Editors to access for general use. Better visual appeal and functionality for a better service. Organization. Green light for Phase III and Phase IV

Phase III

We will format the HTML text pages with advanced visual appeal. This will include consistent site graphics (I.E. mascot colors, a logo, and uniform formatting), appropriate widgets and tools, and enhanced functionality (I.E. nav bars, search boxes, complete tag clouds, experience/level calculators, etc.). This phase will also include obtaining a domain specific to our cause, or better yet, moving the wiki directly onto sythe.org as an integrated resource.
Purpose: This phase is, in essence, the finalization of a uniform site. After completing this part of production, the site will be fully serviceable and out of its "BETA" stage, so to speak.
Projected time of completion: This will be the longest leg of this project. I project we will be working on this for a little over two to three months before we can officially call this phase to a close. I'm no expert on web design, but I feel most of our time will be spent finalizing a uniform format, and about 1/3 of our time spent applying it to the entire site.
Outcome: Version 1.0.1 of Sythe.org's OldSchool RuneScape Wiki.

Phase IV

Phase IV will be devoted entirely to the upkeep of the site. At this point, I would like have an elite corps of Editors who have remained loyal to the project, and I would like to have specific jobs delegated to each member. For example, designate one for upkeep of information, one for upkeep of Jagex News releases, one for upkeep of Sythe.org new releases, one for upkeep of pictures, one for upkeep of the web design, etc and so forth.
Purpose: Maintain a level of accuracy and professionalism among the wiki pages. Keep the site tidy and easy to navigate. Evolve to cater to the users and their needs.
Projected time of completion: ONGOING
Outcome: Continual updates

Our project is a go. I'm going to write out template HTML pages for people to use. If you have a good HTML layout you'd like to see on the wiki as well, PM it to me and I'll distribute that as well. The main pages we'll focus on are items, skills, and quests. We'll fill in the rest as we go.
