Restructuring RS Discussion and Market

With the upcoming release of RS '07 servers, we're looking to do a little restructuring of the RS related forums in order to make room and to organize the main page following the addition of the '07 oriented sections.

This being said, I'm looking to get some community input on how the structure should look, and we'll work from there.

 

You mean you were too lazy so you want the community to come up with it lol?

Nah it's good that we get a say in this considering majority of the people on the site are the regular users.

How dramatic of a change are you thinking of?

Are you considering adding new forums for 07 Scape or including it under the forum of runescape and compressing the existing sections to avoid clutter of the index?

 

Not exactly sure. This is why I'm looking for feedback. I'd like to see what the consensus is from the community as far as new layouts go. Give us your thoughts, and the staff and users will discuss and decide from there.

I personally would like to see a fairly radical change which would not only condense, but organize the sections better than they currently are.

 

Make a whole new part called Old School Runescape (This is what jagex is calling it)

Old School RuneScape General

Old School Cheating

Old School Pictures & Videos

Or you could just ad sub section in the runescape version of those section but I would rather it be a complete new section with these sub forums in it.

 

I'm looking for a completely revamped and/or condensed version of the ENTIRE RS Discussion and Marketplace forums in order to implement the new sections seamlessly. This post isn't helpful as it stands.

What I'm trying to get here is some input as to how the sections should be organized.
What should be on the main page?
What should we put under sub-sections?
How do you guys feel the sections would best be displayed and organized, as a whole?

These are the questions I'm looking for input on.

Better, but you're neglecting the market still. Plus, all of that being on the main page, would be fairly cumbersome and a bit of an eyesore in my opinion. Others may disagree though. The more input we can get on this, the better. You guys are the users afterall. You'll be the ones frequenting and utilizing the sections.

 

Yea I'm working on that now. You can always just make it a subsection so runescape general > Old school runescape general being a sub section at the top that you can click to go into. And just do that for pretty much all the current runescape sections.

 

We'll see what we can come up with. Best case scenario, I'd like to hash something out by Friday that way we can get the sections implemented before or shortly after the servers go live.

Try and coerce the people you frequently converse with to have a look at this thread, and leave some feedback. The more input we get, and the sooner we can get it, the better.

(You can also just make a subforum for each account section. But There won't be much account sales activity so I figured one section under pures and one section under other accounts will make do for now.

In my opinion, for a pre-release stage:

Under RuneScape Markets:

Gold Exchange: - Runescape Gold Buying / Runescape Gold Selling / Old School RuneScape

The reason behind the combined section for both, is upon release the number of people buying and selling gold will be miniscule as there will be close to no gold sold for profit. So for a brief period of time threads for both buying/selling can be created in the same section.

Item Exchange: - Runescape Item Purchases / Runescape Item Sales / Old School Runescape Item Exchange

Why another consolidated sub-forum? The number of perishable resources for sale will be close to nothing. When the servers are released people will be focusing on further developing their accounts, and for individuals who do wish to sell resources such as logs/ores/fish/food etc can place up threads in the section where they can request certain items or sell items that they may no longer require.

The next section which involves accounts will barely be used in perhaps the first month of the release starting from Friday, so if a sub-section is implemented, we can just have a whole new sub-forum named "Old School Runescape Accounts" or something along the lines which would cover all accounts on the 07 servers which are being sold.

Everything covered in that sub-forum at the time would include skilling services to questing since people will most likely not be starting a service due to having nothing to do quests with. Skilling services may 'boom' when bots can hook in with 07 scape but until then, it will be run by a small 'niche' of individuals who have time to play runescape all day.

Since everyone is anticipating 07 Servers to be a massive launch why not create a whole new sub-forum on the main page dedicated 'just' for 07 Servers.

Since most common topics are broad discussions such as account builds and showcasing pictures/screenshots erupt conversations within members there would be no reason not to have it within that set-up.

Once the number of posts and traffic increases to the section, the sub-subforums can be placed straight onto the homepage when more people are actually playing the game, but if you have them all combined upon release, many will get neglected.

Just my opinion, feel free to build on it.

 

It would be awesome if we could get new forums for 07 servers.

07scape should be given it's own section, the same way as Runescape has it's own as current. Having them both under one section as shown above, unfortunately makes it look far too cluttered and unappealing.

 

I am with Sellerman. It would be complicated and is easy to be mixed if they are gonna be put in the same section.

 

RSC will not be given front page real-estate. The game's not popular enough to warrant it.

 

I think a big focus on Pking is a must. This will draw more members into the community.

I genuinely don't think the old servers will be very popular after a month. We should wait to make some of these drastic changes.

 

There will still be a far few higher level players though. That are not willing to part with there accounts.

 

You guys are taking too long. You do realize now is the best fucking time for search engine optimization, right? Slap something together for now, or just go and do something like this, before Friday's release:

And for the discussions, I don't see a need for separating them, as the main section is already for RS/RS Classic and we should just share it. People are going to mostly be interested in both games, and it will help make discussions much better.

EOC gold prices are crashing. I think that makes it apparent that either:

A) There's a dupe out
B) People are dumping their gold to play RS 2007​
