Build A Botting PC Or Pay For A VPS?

Alright so I plan on botting a lot when rs 2007 comes out and was thinking about building a new rig for botting only. I would have a $1000-$1200 budget or I can pay $50 a month for a vps with 8GB DDR3 RAM, 8 HT Cores (3.4GHz Total).

why do you need another pc to bot? cant you just use the computer your using now botting doesn't really require so much but if your doing this just go for the cheaper method out of the two

If he's planning on botting a decent number of accounts, it's quite CPU and RAM intensive.

I'd build a new computer, plus the game shouldn't be as cpu intensive as it is now so you'll be able to run quite a few you'd think.

Right now I have a decent rig with an i5 and 8GB of ram but I want to have a decent size bot farm going. I think i'll wait to order the parts for it until bots come out, will start picking out a build now.

Well, a bot uses 500MB of RAM (I heard so, not sure)
    Your CPU can't be stopped.
    You have 64GB of RAM
    64/0.5=128
You'll run around 100 bots, not sure if there are any limits or whatsoever.

@Risk I'm pretty sure that cpu would max out before I use 16GB of ram. Not sure if that is worth the extra money over i7-3770K.

I don't think you could even take advantage of 64GB of RAM.

It depends on the amount of accounts you are going to be botting.

I plan on botting as many as possible as long as it's only $5 extra for membership.

You will max out 8gb ram on that VPS quite easily with just 15 bots.
Better off building your own rig for sure, amount of bots wise..

i7 3930k is a beast for sure but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra price.

I'm not sure how CPU/RAM intensive the 2007 version of RuneScape will be, but considering it was before HD and the graphics were worse I assume around 400mb (nowadays around 550mb). However.. it might be less efficient that it is nowadays so it might be the same.

I think that an i5 3570k and 16gb ram will max out around the same time.
i7 3930k you might be able to fill around 24gb of RAM? Not sure.

Graphics don't matter much for botting, you could go with a cheaper one. One thing to keep in mind when considering the cost of a PC vs a VPS is that running a botting PC 24/7 is probably going to add ~$30/month to your power bill.
