What can I change to this, completely new to all this and just put together a rough build. Need for a little bit of video editing the odd game or two on max settings and general browsing. Also I want to make it so its good for years to come with basic upgrades.

Updated with a hard drive, hit 700 pounds which is the max I really want to spend.

Cut the SSD, save up for a slightly better one at a later time. Or spend a little extra and get the one with higher capacity.

    http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/sandisk-internal-hard-drive-sdssdhp128gg25

    22.01 pounds extra for 128GB... .55Pounds/GB vs. 1.22Pounds/GB

I am just throwing that out there.

If you're playing just a few games and you install them on your SSD, you will notice a significant difference between it and the 5400RPM HDD.
Video editing - the 3570K is rather fine for "a little bit"...

I do not know your opinion on RAM, but I have used Patriot RAM before and haven't had a problem with it. There is 2x8GB here: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/patriot-memory-pv316g160c9k
    12.06 Pound savings...
I forget what the difference is between splitting over 2channels as opposed to 4 channels is... Aside from the fact that you could upgrade to 32GB at any time.

PSUs are a HIGHLY debatable subject. You can cut the price by choosing another name and taking the risk - but there is a heavy trade off with it... You risk the PSU failing and frying your computer. I took the risk and went with a XION 850W PSU (it was ~$50/60 USD at the time?)... Lemme say I absolutely love the thing (I run SLIed GTX 470s and it tolerates it).
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Mast...8?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1360896973&sr=1-178
~ 6.25 Pound difference... Not much but it could go towards the SSD upgrade. Also - make sure you get the proper power cord/compatability for the area you are in. ^^

I apologize if I'm ripping apart your build, but I am looking at PCPartPicker and then going to shop at other places and am noticing a much wider variety at the other places.

I suppose, but I am only really planning on running the OS of it. Although a bigger one may benefit with running hefty programs from it.

Anymore opinions on this, I think I will need a new case as the motherboard has 3.0 USB but the case doesn't support it.

I'd lower the ram to 8GB, 12 at max. You will max out your cpu before you can use all that ram.

OK, edited the case to support USB 3.0 and changed the RAM to 8GB of 2x4. Anything else to change, possibly to save on the price.

40gb ssd is only going to work on windows 8 lol.
Windows 7 will eventually fill it up COMPLETELY. Without any additonal programs. Just cache, temp data and stuff like that..

    Good build other than that.
Might be better off with a hybrid HDD like a Seagate Momentus XT instead of a 40gb ssd/slow hdd.. Srs

    http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/DJDU Edited, thanks RunescapeJJ

I think its alright, maybe a little overpriced for what it is. Bit disappointing with a 750GB Hard Drive as I was hoping for a SSD and a HD but they are pretty expensive. Graphics card is nice tho.

Meh with a limited budget you have to make some decisions.

Just saw that you picked 1333 Mhz ram, get 1600 Mhz for nearly the same price.
    http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-memory-cml8gx3m2a1600c9

Overall you are better off with the Seagate Momentus XT 750GB 2.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive than a 40gb ssd and slow 500 gb hdd.

You could upgrade to a SSD later and still have a fast HDD :)

EDIT: Now that the HDD lowered the price a bit. I suggest swapping the RAM for the 1600 ram I linked and perhaps switching graphics card for http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-video-card-fx785acnjc

680 pounds in total so in your budget.
    7850 2gb is loads faster than normal 650 2gb.
    Also beats 650ti 2gb.

Yea, didn't notice about the RAM. To be honest that build right there could probably handle most games you throw at it was ease, its a nice build. Plus that other card didn't support crossfire so was kind of limiting myself to upgrades there.

Seriously considering ordering this soon, I think its going to hit around 1K after I grab a monitor and tweak a few things but its pretty nice.

After tweaking it a bit more this is what I got for maximum performance for 700 pounds: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/DKK5
    500w bronze PSU is fine.

7870 2gb is slightly faster than the 7850 1gb but that version is also slightly overclocked.

Both 7850 and 7870 are good though.

EDIT: Talking about upgrades you might want to consider a 650w PSU.

    7870 and a 650w PSU -> 720 pounds
    7850 and 650w is under 700
could also do 7850 and 500w PSU to have it around 665 pounds or something

Will probably go with the 650 PSU in case of any future upgrades etc.

Looks like a solid build, only thing I'd personally do is throw a few more bucks to get a nice case but other then that looks good.

Yea, I agree with that. A case is pretty important, it will probably be used for longer than quite a bit of the hardware due to upgrades. Also I want one with some good cable management. I have about 25 GBP to play with at the moment so I will take a look and see what I can change.

Added what I needed such as Dual Monitors, Basic Keyboard / Mouse and a set of speakers.

    http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/DNPp

Hit 955 GBP thinking of going to 1000 GBP as it is my first desktop I have none of the peripherals so I have around 45 GBP spare what can I change. Also suggestions on monitors I just chose them as place holders really.

Opinions on these monitors - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009LI5318/?tag=pcp0f-21

you realise that that monitors more expensive then yours because its ips right?
google the difference before saying its logo alone idiot.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GL2450...1_7?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1360999396&sr=1-7
there you go friend. if youre willing to pay for an ips screen(since youre editting the better colours would probs be worth it) go for it imo.

if youre not ocing, drop to i5 3470 or w/e its called. drop to normal 1tb hdd( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-720...1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1360999702&sr=1-2)
get windows from another method, and add ssd.

    all my person opinion.
