2007 Server Discussion

Meh, if there's one thing since 2007 that I like in RuneScape is the new HD update they did back in 2009 I think it was. I could get used to the 2007 graphics sure but the HD graphics becoming an option would be nice.

I'm not sure on this, 2007 RS was a ton better than today. Although I get the feeling its going to be played for a few days, then its just going to get boring.

I hate people like this. All they're doing is holding back something that can be great for tens and maybe even hundreds of thousands people.

If anything Jagex will have more money to put towards updates are useful and not just another RWT micro-transaction store that everyone will whine about.

 

Well they should be based if you have them now.

But phats and masks I can't see being added, so when people start getting rich and staking there will be big piles of cash and nothing to invest in (and the game will fail because you need an item like this)

Well, the strongest/most wanted armor would take the place of phats(eg D chain>obtained from KQ and very rare drop from dusties). If people get too big piles of cash, all items will gradually rise in price <=> while more gp gets into the game. That's what I think.

 

One thing I miss is the economy without the Grand Exchange because it made merching easier and more enjoyable. Should also be pretty fun to race to train your stats because if you're one of the first people to be able to mine/smith rune for example you'll make a killing.

 

Yeah the economy will be pretty messed up for a little while. I wonder how prices will be established at first?

 

Does anyone know when voting will open? And will we need member accounts to vote?

I'll renew my membership and give a vote when it's set in stone that it'll come back (The minimum votes) so when that happens, be sure to update it. It's cool that they're looking to revive a semi-decent part of the game (although I think they should of dug a little deeper for those "Lost backups" of older mechanics..) but I guess I just don't really care enough anymore about the game.

I will play it though most likely, I don't even mind starting from scratch tbh. One of the funnest things about the old RS was making new accounts and pures every other week anyway.

Darn I cant wait! So excited for the few moments when Lumbridge is total crowded and everyone got a bank worth of 25 gp!

 

The more I think about it, the less appealing it seems. Jagex are going to bring back the 2007 servers and make everyone start again from scratch, ok.

What I'm worried about is how the community has changed (for the worse) in the 6 years between now and 2007. A lot of the 2008- players will be frustrated at the lack of ge and maybe the slow exp rate. The community nowadays is much more selfish, there are loads of beggers who just ask for stuff and hardly anyone is willing to be a good samaritan these days.

In the long term, I guess things might even out and those frustrated newfags will have to adapt or leave. Thus the game will be good again.
