did i get a cool deal?

My brother sold me his PC for a whoppinggg $150
i thought it was a cool deal since the processor itself is on new egg for $280.
specs?

its WAAAY better then my old peice of shit PC which ill probably use to try and run a single bot at a time now.

 

It's a nice computer... but you need to open up Windows 7 to the 64-bit version of it. You're severely limiting the use of your computer if you don't. You can only use 3.5GB of RAM and I believe only 2 [out of 4] of the cores? The GTS 250 is a great start for a GPU... It's far better than on board. Nice catch for $150!

 

Good buy really, but as skate said you'd need 64-bit to use all the ram installed.

 

Nice, upgrade to 64 you are only using half of what it can do in terms of RAM. I'd buy that for 150 any day, how comes he sold it so cheap.

 

It was definitely a good deal for $150, but the GPU is very low-end. I would look at a possible upgrade, but even if you don't, that was a brilliant bargain for you.

 

Yeah i was aware, he told me i should upgrade to 64 bit. he told me i needed to and was only using 3.5

he only agreed to $150 because he told me i wasnt allowed to sell it so he could use it for something if he really had to lol but ya its a keeper forsure

 

Used to run an i7 860, perfectly capable processor, slap a decent gpu on it, and a cpu cooler & oc to 3.8ish and itd be great

great deal you got haha, install 64bit windows btw.

 

Also running an i7 860. Runs great, never felt the need to overclock as my GPU is the throttle (Radeon 6950) when playing games. Runs most games on high/max at 60 FPS so that is good enough for me

Be sure to install 64-bit and perhaps buy another 2 gb ram to get 8 gigs and most likely 4x2 GB setup so all is dual channel! If you have a 4gb and 2gb you might want to buy another 4gb and use the 2gb for another PC so you run 2x4GB dual channel. Or buy another 2gb so you can run 2x4GB dual channel and 2x2GB dual channel for 12GB ram.
