    best rapper alive today?

due to the fact that he has sold the most albums, has the most video views, and the fact that his old songs are still so popular, Eminem is the peoples favorite by far

    best rapper alive today?

"No, actually it's a fact." Keep believing T-Rock is the best rapper alive. I listened to the first song, and when the beat dropped and he started rapping, I just turned it off immediately because It wasn't a pleasant sound. "Saying that he's really bad just proves how little you know." Again, I am entitled to my own opinion, and based on your argument, If I don't like T-Rock, then I don't know anything about the rap game and I'm a moronic mainstream listener. Funny thing, I liked Big Sean way before he was even famous. Kanye? Always was my favorite rapper. And by the way, listening to mainstream music isn't overrated. NOT listening to it is overrated these days, people think it's cool to be and outsider/underground follower as If you knew how the game was down there. These people are underground for a reason, and don't want fame, and If they want to live by the module, by all means. I don't see the reason why more rappers don't become mainstream [cash flow], and don't fucking give me some integrity bullshit.

Common, Eminem, Big Sean, Nas, Kanye would all kill T-Rock in a rap battle If it came down to it, hands down. Sorry buddy, but T-Rock is no where near the best rapper alive. :(

Can you read? You just put so many words in my mouth that everything you just said pretty much made no sense. I didn't say that it's a fact that T-Rock is the best rapper. I also don't think he is because it's impossible to narrow it down to one best anyways because some are better than others at different things. I only said it's a fact that those 3 you listed are far from the best. I also didn't say you don't know anything about hip-hop for not liking him, but for saying that he's bad when you didn't even listen to him along with pretty much everything you've said which only proves your ignorance. You said that his flow was just like Twista's, which is beyond stupid. You're basically saying it's not okay for two rappers to have the same flow. Also when someone raps really fast, it's impossible for them to not sound at least a little bit similar to someone else who does the same. Thing is though, T-Rock has so many styles of flow and he can rap at any speed to any beat. He's also able to speak his words clearly, which can't be said for a lot of fast rappers. He can rap unbelievably fast, but he also chooses not to because he wants people to be able to understand him. It's not just his flow that makes him good either, but his lyrics, rhymes, wordplay, etc too. He does everything well. If anyone who knows anything about rapping took the time to listen and read his lyrics, then you should be able to admit that the guy is quite talented whether you like him or not. Any true hip-hop fan should be able to appreciate all styles. There are many artists who I don't care for their sound, but I can still recognize talent. I don't even think either of them are that bad for the most part, but saying that Big Sean or Kanye would kill T-Rock in a battle is just comical. You can think whatever you want, but don't expect me to take you seriously when you clearly can't recognize talent, then say someone is bad just because you don't like how they sound.

I'm not one of those people who goes around hating on everyone who is mainstream and only listens to underground. I seriously listen to all styles and I make a strong effort to always listen to new artists, both old and current. I discover someone new I like almost daily. It's frustrating how much some people miss out on because they aren't willing to look for it or they're satisfied with always listening the same handful of rappers. There are plenty of good mainstream rappers who deserve the fame and recognition they get too, but the majority of them do not. Too many people base talent on popularity. There are several examples in this thread alone with people saying Eminem is without question the best just for the amount of albums he has sold. That doesn't at all mean I think he's bad, but it's unfair to put someone above everyone else just for the amount of money they've made. And what the hell are you talking about underground artists not wanting fame? How easy do you think it is to become famous? It's not like all underground rappers refuse to be more well known because they want to stay underground. You don't have to sell out to be famous and make money. That's what makes it so frustrating. All these shitty bubblegum rappers are swimming in cash, while others with so much more skill are struggling to pay bills. I didn't mean to only call you out in my first post, but you just continue making some of the dumbest statements I've ever heard. I'm just annoyed at how these threads always turn into people mostly just saying their favorite rappers and not who they actually think is the best. Of course I realize they both mean the same to a lot of people, but I just wish there could be more intelligent discussions on it and that people would at least explain why they think someone stands out from the rest.

    best rapper alive today?

Macklemore is good, but he doesn't do actual rapping all that often, he mainly does hip-hop. The same can be said for Hoodie Allen, he does borderline pop a lot, but if you hear him freestyle, he can lay out a sick rap. My favourite is Logic or Hi-Rez. By the way, I love your avatar, does the guy still make them? I'm in the group but he hasn't responded to my PM, and the thread is old.

Lol'd irl. I love beck but what in the actual fuck.

I like his lyrics a whole lot but not too big a fan of his voice particularly (its coming around on me through multiple listens), I got into them from Chris's first band No Ca$h. I was surprised to say the least but MC is badass in its own right.

Nas is good, commons pretty good and eminem is extremely overrated (but still a great wordsmith) but i wouldnt say they are the "best" by any means.

Im more apt to bring up Rakim (hes the granddad to every motherfucker mentioned, hes the fucking king.) and is still at it to this day. Mos Def is a better lyricist than 95%+ of those mentioned thus far, I cant really come up with a definitive answer as to who is best lyrically atm, But Del comes to mind (he can run the gamut of emotions in a single line if he wants, most people think of him as only a goofy guy but thats not even the half of it).

    Probably Rakim.

EDIT: KRS One is sick as fuck still. Better than most of what has been brought up easily.
