    Corruption in Sport

As of late there has been a lot of media attention focused around cheating/doping and bribing in various sports.

People will always find a way to stay under the radar no matter how many tests they take. All of this media attention has been criticized by the heads of the sporting unions as there is not a lot of evidence to support it and it all seems to be hype.

How much of it do you think is real? To be honest it all seems like accusations right now or a publicity stunt for more funding.

I remember they accused that sprinter in the olympics of being a man and she had to prove her innocence just because she was so good.

Yeah, it's over the top but cheating techniques are becoming more and more advanced so the accusations have to as well I guess.

Every top athlete is always looking for a method to gain an edge on their opponents. Sometimes the methods with the most gains in the least amount of time are either borderline legal or illegal.

The problem with detecting dopers is that the drugs can be extremely hard to spot and athletes can claim positive tests are an anomaly with some credibility to their claims. Since everyone's body is different.

I think most dopers are secret about it and they don't like to boast or talk about doping. Lance Armstrong might have been a bit of an exception since he was actively sueing those who accused him and denied it regularly in interviews. Doping actually results in less funding for the sport, because sponsors and investors don't like to be associated with frauds and cheats.

It probably happens everywhere. Do you find where you live it is only heard of in male sports?

In Australia the media is saying that sports players in NRL and AFL are explioting a loophole in which if they admit to taking drugs before they take a test, it is not recoreded (i think it's only illicit drugs, not performance enhancing not sure if it's true either).
Massive investigation and overhaul of the system / players / sports clubs at the moment.
It's weird that they only started looking into it after the massive cycling scandle though..
