Whats the maximum you can overclock a I5 Sandybridge

I've seen 5ghz, but guess it depends on what sort of cooling you have.

 

It depends on your cooling setup, and whether it's an unlocked core, as they're designed for overclocking. What core do you have/cooling setup?

 

there is no max, seeing as every chip clocks differently.
average oc is 4.5ghz

 

I clocked at 4,5GHz and it was stable (I stress tested it), but for daily usage I use 4,0GHz @ 1.225V. I use a Prolimatech Megahalems heatsink with 2 fans.

 

As others have said, it lies entirely on your cooling and your individual chip, as each individual processor is a little different than others. The only way to know what you're capable of overclocking to is by doing it yourself and finding out where your system peaks out at.

 

I've seen someone stably overclock up to 5GHZ, but I wouldn't risk it going that far. A 4.5 GHZ overclock should be more than enough, although you may need water cooling rather than air.

A stock I5 + turbo boost is plenty fast imo
