Don't you think the i7 is a bit of a overkill, I am in the process of making a build. Was looking at processors and lots of reviews claim the i5 is fine.

Hey, an i7 is and is not an overkill, well, it depends on what you are using it for, there are two different ways:
    1) Gaming, mostly, an i7 will not help you, you will probably see 2-3 frames here another 2 there, but it's not worth the extra $100.
    2) Rendering/Video Editing, an i7 is a beast at that, so it's worth way more than an extra $100 in terms of editing, as the i7 has Multi-Threading technology, which allows Windows/OS to see it as an 8-core CPU...
Pretty nice build, what games do you play on it? And, that Gold PSU is awesome, isn't it?

Wow, really nice, 8 gigs of ram are really enough, I'd say wait till DDR4 :D
The 500R is a beast :D and a SSD is really worth it..

Nice, how do you like Windows 8? Is't good?

This is really close to my build, just one difference, I have 8 gigs of RAM (I feel like a jackass, I paid $120 bucks for 8GB 2133MHz when 16GB 1600MHz were $105)
BTW, it's a beast, How far did you OC your Radeon and your i7?

    i5-3570k @ 3.40ghz, 8Gb Ram, Radeon 7850.

@Fendle the i5 is all you need for gaming and basic use. If you aren't into heavy video editing or anything like that it's just overkill.

Windows 8 is ok. Not the greatest and i would downgrade to Win7, but i bought this pc ready built, and it has a 3 years warrenty and any modifications with software or hardware will void the warrenty. Im debating about upgrading the SSD and the Ram and downgrading though once i get the cash, and just getting it fixed myself if it breaks.

    Everything stock.
    CPU: i7 860 @ 2.8ghz
    GPU: radeon 6950 1gb
    RAM: corsair 8gb 1333 Mhz
    SSD: 64gb crucial m4
    HDD: 1 TB Western Digital
    PSU: Coolermaster GX-650W bronze
    Case: Coolermaster Elite 310
    Mobo: MSI P55-CD53
    OS: Windows 8 Pro

Upgraded quite a few things, used to have 4gb ram, no ssd and a 5750 videocard & 500w psu. So I upgraded to a 64 gb ssd, 8gb ram, 6950 and 650w psu in summer 2012. Well worth it. Won't be upgrading it anymore. Also no need for a new desktop. It performs good enough and I can use the money on better things such as paying for university / rent in the future lol.

Bad-ASS I would've went for a 7970, it's the same in terms of price, it's better in everything except for editing as CUDA helps in adobe programs which I don't think that you use since you got an i5 and not an i7.
I'm in love with that case, go ahead, OC now Hyper 212 will get you 4.0GHz easy.
