    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

Its a very interesting question to think about. I've always considered it "illegal art". Obviously it takes great talent to make real-life graffiti look good.
I've always enjoyed seeing trains roll on by and see this amazing graffiti on it.
So, I would rest with, "its art".

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

Yeah i think the overall answer given by most is that it's a mix of vandalism and art. I've never thought about it like that before, i just sort of assumed it was one or the other. But i can see now how it could be a mix of both, it's an interesting concept still that something can be a piece of art and vandalism at the same time

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

it's vandalism man. i love graffiti and used to travel all over my city looking for cool murals n tags, but lately ive come to realize that it just costs the property owner cash, as in my city you get a fine if you dont cover graffiti up within like a week or something

    fuckin stupid

What?! That's crazy so someone sprays graffiti on your property but you have to pay to get it removed or pay a fine if not! What City are you from if you don't mind me asking? Although it seems ridiculous I guess it does make for a nice place to live

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

I only call it vandalism at the fullest if its obscene, or is just really stupid. But like, if its something that looks like someone put a lot of effort into, then its art in my mind.

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

Yeah I know what you mean, when its truly had a lot of time and effort put into it there's no different between the and something you might see in a modern art museum, at that point it's a hard argument to call it just vandalism

I have to say, the best graffiti is always done on trains. Smart of them too
to do it that way. Trains are constantly moving and it allows people all of the
place to see their art. Except some people are stupid and make awful 1 color
graffiti. Like in all black and it says something like "Hi"

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

Yeah I totally agree, it looks cool, plus it gets their art seen by many people. However the people who write these stupid one colour words and squiggles give proper graffiti artists a bad name. The problem is you wouldn't see an amateurs oil painting in a museum, but the streets are the museum of graffiti and anyone can get their art on show, even if it's god awful

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

I used to do graffitis before starting college, painted for almost 4 years and was actually quite good but when I finished school I started investing my money in better and important things than montana's ;P

I remember doing a project about this exact topic when I was in senior year: Will kinda sumarize but I think graffitis are vandalism when they are done on buildings, they are appreciated as art when they are on legal places like abandoned factories and places like that. If you paint graffitis you should know that the #1 rule is that you should never paint on people's houses.

Here are some pics of when I used to paint (got 500+ pics on my facebook lol):

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

Technically a good piece of work or a scribble graffiti is still counted as vandalism in pretty much every circumstance, because it's not supposed to be there and it's there without permission.

However, some graffiti is of great talent and skill and people really earn a living and make themselves famous from being good at it, when done 'properly'. There's two types, the artistic type and the meaningless vandalism type.

In my opinion, if it's done well and it's positive and doesn't cause anyone any issues .. it's artistic.

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

Was more like a hobby, I had my own crew so we used to paint a lot but then everyone went through different roads (college, some of them started to work) and the crew slowly dissolved. Regarding college, my carreer is nothing related to artistic stuff, studying bussiness administration. One has to differ hobbies and real work :)

I tend to make a lot of sketchs when I am bored tho; Many of my friends asks me for one every often, here are some of the lasts I made:

The name of my crew was kinda too much lol but we liked it: Skc, meaning "Steet kingz crew"

Yeah, I get that, I think trying to make a hobby a full time job can really impact on the enjoyment of it, when it becomes necessary rather than when you want to doit, it takes a lot of the fun away. I really like your work though, some pretty impressive stuff! Did it take you long to get to this skill level? I'm guessing this was in a city, how did you get away with it without getting caught? Did you do it at night time?

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

I started making graffitis when I was 13 years old, started from scratch and went improving my skills every year. I used to paint my first ones in abandoned factories, where you could find a lot of graffiti artists which you learnt from. Good days right there ha.

I got caught a lot of times during the night, but they just took my montanas away, never went to jail as I was under-age (I am 18 years old now). You improve by practicing, I did my first ones with the help of a site called: Graffiticreator.net but that was just the first year, then I started creating my own styles which are the ones you can see in the pictures (I got more than 600 pictures of graffitis/taggs/sketchs lol). One day I started watching my pictures and saw I was actually decent, so I started painting during day-time and people just sat there and saw me paint (I rarely went to paint alone, always was with atleast a friend). To answer your question: It did take me long to get where I am now lol, but I also spent days drawing (as I love doing it and it clears my mind)

    Graffiti, art or vandalism?

If it's on a piece of paper (aka your property) then it's art. If you're spraying it on the side of a bridge like the fresh prince of bel-air, then it's vandalism.

Yeah David Choe has done some amazing work! I especially like the work he does on vehicles, It's truly awesome :p Doing work for Obama will definitely decrease his reputation IMO but hey, I'm sure he's doing it for the money, and who wouldn't!
