Donations from others on your behalf and disputes handling

So today I was talking with AmitZ and he quoted Matthew. Matthew said that if someone charges back the money of a donations that person made on your behalf you would get banned. It makes no sense to me.

I think that person should get banned and my rank should get removed.

The way donations are handled on behalf of someone else records your ID, IP and Paypal, that should be banned, not the user who received the donation.

Of course, you'd need to be cautions from who to receive donations on your behalf to not lose cash if you sell gold for (for example) donations on your behalf.

Else, the system could get exploited and simply wouldn't make sense.

You mean, if we took the payment, processed the donation, then the person chargebacks, so we chargeback, we get banned?

If so, your right, it makes no sense.

But i think as long as we can prove they chargebacked (ie. picture of chargeback on paypal) then we should be okay.

 

Seems like there is a bit of confusion among staff. I agree with Roary and Tux on this one though, what Matthew stated is silly.

Thing is, it'd be classed as scamming sythe, so they must be banned.

Matthew, so you're saying I could donate for someone now and chargeback and they'd be banned? In that case, I'd like it so that people can't donate on behalf of me so I'm perfectly secure, as I'm not being caught in some loophole.

 

i agree with this. There should not be a donate for others option until it is all sorted our with the coding. I have recently had someone ask me to donate for them and i said no and showed them that. i mean i could just donate $5 for someone i hated then charge it back and boom they are banned. So if that is the case then the option should be removed.

 

Matthew said that it's a problem that currently happens but WILL be resolved when the script is changed, as it was made in a hurry.
