Help - Brainstorming about subject

Hey all, I've gotta do something for school. I still have a lot of time to finish this but since I got some free time now and since i'm part of this awesome forum i'm gonna ask you guys for some help .

I've gotta pick a subject, do research about it, and make a presentation about it. My group of 4 have picked Gaming as a subject.

I'm brainstorming but as of right now I can't think of anything else. This is where you come in xD!

Suggest some more general subjects about gaming that could be interesting and something theres lots to talk about.

Currently I have;

• The Beginning of gaming
• Evolution of gaming
• Gaming Today/Present
• Future of gaming
• Are we the gaming generation?
• Most played games worldwide
• PC/Xbox/PS3/Wii Gaming consoles
• Are games addicting?
• How addicting are they?
• Impact on social life
• Connection between gaming and shootings in USA? Why are they always being linked together?
• Weapon Law USA - Why are they allowed - History of the US weapon law
• Change US weapon law instead of limiting/censoring/forbidding games

If you have any other subjects/ideas(gaming related) I could speak about, let me know. Please don't be too specific, I don't wanna end up speaking about how good Halo4/BO2 is for example. It's gotta be about Gaming in a general.

 

How long have you got? That's a pretty lengthy presentation as it is..

• Evolution of Gaming - Past > present > future
• Are we the gaming generation? (stats and interesting facts on number of consoles manufactured or something)
• Most played games worldwide & most popular consoles (Ps, Wii, Xbox..)
• Most valuable consoles?
• Addiction and social impacts
• Gaming and crime (gun laws, shootings, complaints etc)

I condensed it a little and added one or two points in (bolded). Good luck!

 

Still got 1 month & 1-2weeks. I'm just brainstorming right now, trying to find as many things as i can and then we'll pick out the best subjects . It would indeed be hard to do all of it xD!

I meant, how long has the presentation got to be?

 

I'm honestly not sure, don't have the papers with me right now
I think about 30mins, we're with 4 so we'll be speaking like 7-8mins each.

 

How about.. err

How video games can be a way to escape the real world, in a way where you feel "Out of this world" do you get what i mean?

 

Personally, I would remove the weapons related stuff... You never know how a teacher may take that. Not to mention it is kind of off topic - yes you connect them but the weapon laws are irrelevant to the subject of "gaming". Not to mention you only target the US. What about other countries?

Add the top sort (style) of games per console.
Add who each company targets and why they target that group - The Wii targets a health-conscious crowd as well as the younger-child/developing ranged kids. Who do the others target?

If you really want to hit the nerdy end of it. Explain the concepts of building your own computer (bring in the computer/dummy computer as a prop and point out the parts). Then go into how every single other console is based on a similar concept (HDD, GPU, CPU, etc.).

Also, NVIDIA just released their "project SHIELD". That may make for an interesting topic in your powerpoint.

Ohh yea ok, I can definitely work with that.

Hmm it's true about that I only target the US, but that's simply because theres enough to talk about and there is a US study(with graphs & statistics) that I'll be able to use. The reason i'm involving the history of the us law, is to maybe get an idea why americans are so against any changes of that law.

The companies focusing on a specific player group is a good suggestion, might use it aswell.

The graphic card won't be talked about, i need something that isn't too specific(such as computer/console parts/performances)
