    What Program?

Guys I am looking for a little bit of advise on what program to use to create some gfx. I am going to be totally honest, I have no clue how to make gfx, I have never tried and know extremely little about it. But everybody's gotta start somewhere eh? Can you guys give me some advise on a program that I could use and how to start off by creating a basic sig? Thanks.

You should start off by downloading GIMP and watching tutorials on YouTube. After a while, you should switch to Photoshop. They both have similar tools, but Photoshop is way more advanced.

GIMP, gotcha, looking into that now :) I think I am a long way off photoshop for now haha
+ I am intending to stay amateur and only do personal gfx, maybe show a few of you guys my work once I learn how to do it.
Not going to be selling any gfx in the foreseeable future.

    Thanks for the help :)

I'd disagree with starting on GIMP because I have heard the adjustment period from GIMP to Photoshop can be annoying. Just start with Photoshop, if you spend a good 3 hours or so looking at it you could get a feel for the tools no worry.

Photoshop is very expensive isn't it?
Not looking to spend a lot for the reason being I am not looking to start up a gfx shop or anything, it is mainly personal use.

You don't have to buy it. Since discussion about warez is disallowed, I'll PM you.

One does not become a graphics artist over night. It takes time, dedication, and A LOT of practice. I have been playing around with Photoshop for around 5 years now and I still consider myself lower than an advanced artist. A common misconception is the fact that most people these days just download graphics packs for light rooms and use to those to make a quick buck. If you really want to become a graphics artist because you have the passion for it and not for the money then you would take the time and effort to actually create your own projects and do what you think is right. I personally would recommend GIMP as it is what I first started out with. As Jack Goff stated the transition between Photoshop and GIMP can be kind of hard but it didn't take me more than one day to get myself adjusted. Good luck!

You downloaded it from the official website, right?

Well, I have been using Gimp for almost 6 years now, and I must say: if you're aiming to real business, don't even touch it. Don't get me wrong, Gimp is amazing, but if you get too used to it, you will find yourself stuck between being good with Gimp and being noob in photoshop.

This is happening to me now, I want to improve my skills by using a more "complex" software, but simply can't find enough motivation to start learning everything again, since I'm too used with Gimp (and have no time to learn Photoshop because I'm working on paid jobs with Gimp all the time). This situation pretty much sucks, so I really reccomend you to use Photoshop.

Oh, Photoshop also has a lot more resources to explore, and you can find tutorials everywhere. Now, if you're going to make 3D signatures, like everyone makes here in Sythe, use Cinema 4D to make the text and effects, and then Photoshop to make the actual editing.

    Hope my advice helps. =)

I have used Photoshop Pro at school on my free time for GFX. It's a very resourceful software. Keep trying!
