Early 2000s Music, remember any of these? [SLOW COMP WARNING: Lots of videos]

A lot of people say older generations have such killer music, and while the 90s will always be in my opinion one of the most important times in music, I just have to give it up for some of the greatness that came after the turn of the century. Puddle of Mudd will always be Nirvana copycats but I can't say I didn't crank that shit up at all. Creed is a guilty pleasure and Nickleback has always sucked, RIP napster, kazaa, soulseek, eddie guerrero, layne stayley, dave williams, dime bag, elliot smith, etc.

So here's to the previous decade of music, add on some if you got any in mind (Try to keep most songs at least 10+ years old). A lot of these probably still play time to time, but I know a few of these aren't so much anymore.

So much to say about this song, but I think the words are as concrete as it gets, LOL!

Oh Incubus, one of the greatest bands to really hit big during the time. It's hard to nail down one song (Especially since I'm trying to abstain from putting obscure songs on here), but honestly this has always been one of my favorite Incubus songs no doubt.

Pretty much the same as above, so many great songs to choose from but this is one of those that just brings so much nostalgia.

Another one of those songs I can't believe is 10 years old, love this one.

Same as above. had to switch it sometimes because it was so over played though

    Awesome song.

I was a little reluctant to even add this (especially since it's remixed), but I decided to anyway because they used to play this mix all the time instead of the original one so this grew more on me I guess.

I swear Moby fell off the face of the earth!

February son is a great album, would recommend.

    Love this one.

It was hard to choose between this and By the way, chose this one since it doesn't receive as much airplay today as the this one does.

I am wasted, BUT I'm ready

Might as well be Puddle of Mudd, but dammit I love it anyway.

Van wilder might be partially responsible for this.... Uncensored boobies might partially be responsible for Van Wilder...

    yes that just happened!

    great band, great song

Ok technically 1999 but it hung around on charts so long and received so much air that it just deserves to be added in

Fuck it already put one late 1999 song, why not another one

    Fuel

Movie previews of Dude where's my car?

Really I could listen to T.E.B all day

LOL can't believe I didn't think of this one sooner

    Billy fucking corgan!

this band deserves so much more recognition it's not even funny!

    tx

White pony is one of those albums you have to listen to in a lifetime.

    Hell yeah

Had to put this one because I know not everyone has the patience for Tool, but I highly, HIGHLY recommend this album. Every song on it is a masterpiece and it's almost... mesmerizing.

I just couldn't do it, had to put 2 Weezer songs.

just to end it. there's just something about the dallas music

    ------------------

So much left out, so much obscure stuff I should have added in, and just because I can:

Just missed the cut of being 10+ years by 2 months but this song fucking rocks so hard.

add some if you got any good ones, I'm thinking about putting together a playlist but I definitely can't remember everything lol.

I remember most of those. Definitely brings back a lot of memories. A few more to add.

I kind of did it wrong. There are tons of great artists from this time, but this is what I was listening to then.

floyd you talk about the 90's so much and how they were so important, yet i have not seen you ever talk about the real innovators or the bands and albums that were actually really important to music. For example:

Slint - Spiderland (probably the most important post-rock record ever)

My Bloody Valentine - Loveless (the most seminal shoegaze record ever, no question. critically acclaimed everywhere)

Nas - Illmatic (widely regarded as the best hip-hop debut and extremely influential to hip hop at the time, still a classic)

Portishead - Dummy (greatest trip-hop album recorded)

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane over the sea (best selling record on vinyl)

to be honest, i think your taste is pretty limited and you actually have missed out on most of the important records of the 90's based on your posts that i have seen about how great the 90's were.

    Excellent choice.

Some good names in there Floyd: Tool, Moby, Gorillaz.

well, back in early 2000 I was still listening to radio Disney... but a lot of what I listen to now is from the late 90's or early 2000's and runs the gamut from psychedelia and hip hop to jazz and noisy pop

What are you on about? First off, this is about the 2000s??

Second, you, I and only a few others would have interest in bands like those... Let's just face it. Most people would get 5 seconds into a NMH song and click it.

And on another note, you're just picking out obscure bands and claiming that they're more important than others (Which isn't true by any means, sure they definitely deserved the same notoriety, but that happens still to this day??), but again I don't even understand why because it's 100% irrelevant to this thread.

Oh and you forgot God Speed You, dino Jr, polvo, The Jesus Lizard, Primus, pavement, sebadoh, elliot smith, built to spill, oh shit son I can do that too! (Oh and we can go back even further if you want to talk about what's REALLY important)

    Don't worry I didn't miss out

Tl;Dr: Only you and I care. I didn't just start listening to music yesterday, though, so please don't sit here and pretend like I don't know what I'm talking about and you do (Seriously, it just makes it sound like you have no idea what you're talking about and that you started listening to music yesterday)

The 90's was the best part of an era in terms of music. No autotune, no generic fanpop and everything was new and exciting.

I had a group with some friends on FB which included 100's of 90's hits and loved songs. Will find that and edit this post.

Early 2000s had some decent music, but a lot of it was just spillover from the 90s. Gorrilaz was probably my favorite band that started in early 2000s.

I agree with this 100%. My favorite time for music has to be from the mid-80's to mid-90's. Not saying that I don't like other time periods, just that was the time when the majority of my favorite records came out.

I'd have loved to be old enough to go out to clubs and pubs in the 90's todays music is just all about auto tones and dub step.

Also OP is a fag for posting so many videos that my laptop dies.
