Colors for Warnings?

Right now, our club has a problem with people not using a certain studio properly.
People are not allowed to eat in it and are supposed to keep it clean.

There's a sign posted that states that people should do so, but it's pretty small and barely recognizable.

I was thinking of making a new sign, but just didn't know which colors and font-sizes would catch the eye.

Any suggestions?

 

Red is ALWAYS warning or stop. Go with a block font (it will feel stronger) and red for color.

 

Red is flat and boring and can be looked over. I would go with yellow and black diagonal strips like they use on traffic signs and caution tape. Or you can cut the paper into a triangle to it's not just a piece of paper taped to a wall, it's an actual sign whose shape itself screams "warning"

Bright orange, yellow or, green with thick black font.

Maybe some horizontal stripes like moh mentioned.

 

Going to have to disagree with this, green never really gives of a sense of 'stop' or 'warning' its always associated with 'go' or 'good job' and therefore our brains are trained to think that way. On that note, I really doubt any body would pay much attention to it if it were in green.

Like others mentioned anything around red/orange/yellow would have to do. So basically your warmer colors.

 

I agree with moonglare, and also if you were to add Contrast it would also catch the eye.

Black on white , yellow on black , orange on black ( you get the idea )

Lime green is still eye catching and gets your attention, for example construction workers wear bright orange/green with reflective material to catch peoples eye, and to indicate that they are there.

We were going to put up the signs in a studio where people dance, so red or any bright colors were not so ideal. Maybe it's because of the color of the room, but whatever

a combination of yellow and black seems best
