Question for someone smart with xbox's and such

I bought a 250 gb hd (third party which i didnt even realize i had bought) for my 4gb slim few months back.. it was supposed to come from australia but came from china, i got it for like 54$ so i was hyped cus they cost 120+ at gamestop and shit.. anyways i put it in and it kept turning my netflix off and shutting down my xbox. next day i stated my xbox up and it kept shutting off during my update so i got frustrated with it and took it out. i recently read somewhere on amazon.com bout issues like this with similiar devices, Now will the damn thing ever work correctly where i can save shit to it or am i going to have to spend more money and buy a real one?

as of right now it keeps starting up and powering down my xbox. i dont even make it to the dash board. Any thougts/comments?

Seems bugged. Take it to pc world they may have a look at it and at least diagnose the issue for free!
