Is porn + refferal links accepted now?

Hi guys,

The Sythe rules state that posting referral links anywhere (aside from signatures) warrants an infraction.

Posting pornography or links to it warrants a 1 month ban.

Over the last few hours in the SF there have been a mass of both referral links and links to pornographic content (if you'd like to count human + animal sex as porn) and nothing has been done about it at all. Some have even been posted by staff members. Some of the links no longer work as Facebook have removed the videos, however the user(s) still posted links to porn at some point.

I admit it is generating an exceptional amount of traffic, but by the rules its still not allowed.

I'm not complaining. I'm just curious, is porn and stuff tolerated now? Or just on a lower level?

I was just thinking this very same thing, quite frankly i think its pretty disturbing. But hey, if it is allowed then each to their own i suppose.

 

Allowing pornography on the site wouldn't really be easy. Richard would probably to have to go through a bunch of stuff to ensure he wouldn't get letters off legal companies and stuff. He'd also have to essentially make the site accessible by 18+ users only, which would knock off quite a bit of the of the userbase.

 

It's not porn... You don't even see anything buddy. The only referral links being posted are ones for Sythe.org, the site you're on right now.

There has never been a rule against pay-per-click links being posted, only referral links.

You do know that porn is legal, right? As long as it's not child pornography or animals. In this case, you can't see anything.

 

He could make a section that is only accessable to people who are 18+, by having people posst their age when signing up or by password protecting it and only giving the password to people who can prove their age. But regardless of that, there are plenty of place on the internet to look at stupid messed up things, and sythe isn't one of those places. Atleast it hasn't been in my short stay.

 

The only threads I've seen are ones with links leading to the register page, not actual porn.

There have been a few linking to the porn.

 

Such as heads447's thread, though I think that has been dealt with.

 

Mine, Grave's, and Magic Arrow's all linked to the actual video.

However, Sythe posted on Marrow's and didn't disapprove of the video afaik, and mine and Grave's were moved to viral threads. I'm assuming that means it's alright...

I wouldn't consider it porn considering in my video you couldn't see anything.

The staff all saw our links, and no one told us to take them down or told us otherwise. If I'm going to be banned for a month for helping Sythe get guest traffic because he asked us to, then so be it.

 

I don't think it can be classified as porn/gore because the main motive was not to jerk off to it, and in this situation, no nudity was shown, and nothing was embedded directly onto the website. If anything, people knew exactly what it was going to lead to, and if they had anyone who could be offended close by, they wouldn't click it.


In addition, Laptop appears to not know the definition of what a referral is, as no external referral links were posted.

Have you seen people post porn pictures but have things drawn over them? You clearly know what's going on, but just can't see it. No one's ever been banned for that... Same goes for the video. You could tell what was happening, but you couldn't see any nudity.

Keep in mind that the rule states that the staff get to decide what constitutes porn. In this case, the great Richie Biggums posted on the thread and did not make a big deal out of it, so I think it's pretty safe to say nobody likes you.

I've seen people post bare asses without people getting in trouble for it. I've seen people draw dicks. Tell me, is it better if you're scrolling through with your family behind you and there's drawn penises, or if a thread clearly labels it as a girl getting fucked by a dog, with multiple warnings? Would anyone ever click it if they didn't want to see it? And no, it's not like it was a link to a fucking porn site. If you think it's porn, then you really need a gf.

 

No one could see nudity. You only knew what was going on because of the title. The dog could have just been hugging her ass and having a seizure. -.- Maybe that is what happened, our title was a lie.

If there was no nudity or anything, its not really that big of a deal. Much like posting a sex scene from a movie.

I've not seen the actual video that was posted, so I can't really say for sure, but I would imagine that if Richard posted and didn't do anything, he didn't classify it as in violation of the rules.
