Elder Scrolls Online is coming

They've recently released a closed BETA for those who sign up. I think we should add in a The Elder Scrolls Online (or TESO) BETA Discussion section under "Other Games Discussion", and prepare a market section when it gets closer to the official public release.

There are many wonderful things about TESO and its black market potential. These include: the Mega Server (meaning there's no need to worry about which server you and your friends or your customers are playing on, everyone is on the same server), the extreme diversity in skills to be trained, the even more extreme diversity in items (plus the ability to craft them, which also opens up markets for materials OR master crafting services), and lastly the gold. This game will have A LOT of outlets for gold besides player trading, which means much like WoW's gold-USD market, it will stay consistent once the gold prices settle down. I would advise people to be wary of buying gold early though. When Diablo III came out, gold was a ridiculous 70 dollars for a mill (which n4n0 and I both invested in, much to our disappointment later).

Will it turn out to be a flop like Diablo III was? Maybe, but no hurt in trying! As the sythe axiom goes, "If it fails, delete the subforums!"

 

Hahahah I love this. But yes, I signed up for the TESO beta as well and think that it will offer ample opportunity for the Sythe gold (and item) market, especially in the beginning.

Maybe I'll get that lucky $70/m sale :nuts:

 

Going somewhat off topic. Game series have a tendancy to fail as soon as they become an MMO. I'd say World of Warcraft has only ever been the most successful MMO of all time, although it is dying slowly.

Plus I think there's going to be lag for a lot of players if everyone's on the same server... still that'd be interesting.

Sythe-wise, The Elder Scrolls games tend to have a lot of hype when a new game is announced/released. I think a sub-forum would be a good idea. Do it.

Also i can see people Selling Access to the Beta.
So if a market was implemented from now up until than, it would be highly beneficial

I'm another one of those geeks that signed up for the beta, so yes lets get a sub-forum of some sort going so we can start bringing in the discussions.

If I get selected for the closed beta I would like to be able to share my experiences of the game with the rest of the Sythe community.

I signed up, this has humongous potential if played right, take for example the Mega server, if we sell gold on TES Online it will be in one big server, so it won't be like WoW, and it might stay in demand.

 

Signing in can be done here. Support, but we should wait with releasing the new forum until BETA is playable for people.

market wise, sure keep it in back of your mind, but i would wait to see how the trading aspect works once it is released

 

I agree, BETA hasn't been rewarded yet, but it should be coming out in the next week or two. Once it does, I'd love to see a discussion forum. And when the game is released to the public, I'd love to see a market forum

 

Excuse the double post, but I just learned that it's a bannable offense by the creators of TESO to screenshot, ɯɐǝɹʇsǝʌıן, or upload youtube demos of the closed BETA version. I still want a discussion thread to be created once they start inviting people to the BETA, but just a fair warning to people: be careful what you post and hide your usernames.

This is nothing new, there's always the danger that jagex will ban you for RWT/black market involvement on runescape, but the difference is, there will be very few people playing TESO BETA to begin with, so they might be able to track you down pretty easily. We'll see how it goes.

The true question is why not.

This has potential to be huge, and solely for that reason I think this is an amazing idea. I'd love to get the jump on this now so we can be ready for release as opposed to forgetting about this and let it sit until we bring this thread back alive when the game comes out.

The thing is, Elder Scrolls already has a massive fan base so the chances of it being a 'flop' is small.

Anyways, I don't think the full game will come out till near the end of the year, and also as far as I know, the people with closed beta access aren't actually allowed to publicly discuss the contents of the game.

 

That's true, which is why I suggest the discussion forum be hidden from unregistered users. Since there's a very small userbase during BETA, there's no point in advertising our TESO-supporting forums. I want this early TESO BETA discussion forum to be made so that people CAN share pictures and videos and testimonies and talk about their experience with other BETA and non-BETA forum users alike. It would get the users hyped up and ready to dive into future TESO discussion once the BETA becomes "open", or once they release the final game.


About whether it'll flop or not, you never know. Diablo had an immense fanbase for its single player games, and D3 online was utter and complete shit and lost all credibility for the series and the company. The same COULD happen with TESO, it's going from purely single player roll playing to MMOG, it's entirely possible they will botch the conversion and fuck the whole game up. (Although, with all the released content and sneak peaks, it seems unlikely, it looks amazing so far)
