Steam Section Rule

Hey guys,
So theres is alot of fraud going along the use of steam trade through its trading interface due to "steam gift frauds" and therefore, I am suggesting the rule following rule to be put in;

"Retracted steam gifts sold to people must be refunded and offenders will be held accountable". (Wording is not too great but you get the point)

This rule is applied same with steam accounts. However, not with gifts.

This happens when the seller of the gift purchases the game off steam wanted by the customer and delivers the game to the buyer(customer), as a normal trade would go.
However, after delivery and receiving cash from the customer, the seller would chargeback the money sent to steam causing the buyer to lose possession of the gift.
Chargebacks will root in the sellers favor due to steam already retracting the gift which will cause the customer to lose both the gift and his money while the seller runs off with the money and the gift.

With this new rule implemented, those who have offended this rule must pay back the customer as their is no official rule that holds the seller accountable. This rule will also minimise the amount of scammers running around.

EDIT: Another new rule I just thought of is; All CD-Keys must be shown via screenshot/picture with the code erased and your sythe name next to it in order to prove its legitimate.

Also another suggestion is sellers of gifts must add screenshots of the gift as the rule applies to accounts currently as well.

I also wanted to make a precaution stick somewhere in the section; if the game is sent to you via gift and not traded through the steam trading system. The gift can be retracted easier because people make false accusations that they sent to wrong person.

 

Support for this, should be added.
Not the big change, only that gift fraud is added to the rules.
But I really hope it will help.

 

Don't go in the Steam section much unless its for Dota 2, but I still support this idea. Anything that will reduce scams is a good idea if it's easy enough to make happen.

I agree with tgnDean. I don't really think it will help all that much, but there's no down-side to it. I thought there was already a rule in place saying you had to show you owned a physical copy of a CD-key that you're selling. Long story short, support.

 

Its not much added to the rules but it will help. Just a suggestion that can go somewhere. Theres no negatives to it; so why not?

 

To be honest the entire Steam section needs to go, it's 80% hacked accounts.

That is true but for now of its remaining time we should improve upon its standards as people still need to deal with it. Also reasons why I am no longer in that section sales.

This matter is still ongoing regarding the steam section.

 

I support this. This suggestion could pave the way for further improvements.

 

Support anything to stop fraudulent activities and a bit added security wont hurt anything.

 

6 supports so far Thank you guys for posting your thoughts. What iJava said about 80% of steam is hackers/scammers is unfortunately true in my experience. (Probably over half my post cost is there and also reason why I joined sythe; also the person who refered me here got banned also >_>) It has been about 8-9 months that section as slowly burned and I would really benefit if it had a good clean up. Main reasons of this is due to retractions of accounts and GIFTS.

One of our rules listed is

If a seller charges back and a customer loses a gifted game, they are free to create a scam report, and the situation will be handled by a moderator accordingly.
