Yo guys, I think I've only made one or two threads in this section before but I still don't know where to start so forgive me if this is a bit confusing at first.

Basically, I'm diagnosed with Depression and Anxiety with is issue, it also makes me quite hard to socialize with, I tend to freak out when in a crowd of massive people and I have trouble talking to most people. With saying this, I like to make friends, it's weird but I like have people to talk to at the same time even if it can cause me to have an Anxiety attack.

Another issue is I have trouble sticking to stuff because I get fed up with failing so much and not getting ANY where at all.. It's frustrating. I've tried manny things I've wanted to do and I have always liked but I just fail. I'm currently playing guitar, it has been around 2 years now and I've barely improved at all. I know no theory and I can barely play any of the songs I like(Metal btw and yes I'm well aware that they are complicated but no matter how long or hard I practice I just can't) I've learn't a nice amount of songs, but I seem to be stuck in this hole and the jump to improve is to big for me to dedicate to.
Another is Youtube, I like making and editing youtube videos, but I cannot make any that appeal to people. I like what I make but they seem to be so poor that it's useless to even try and it's like this with many other things.

I understand you and may be able to help you too; When you say you have trouble sticking to stuff because you get fed up with failing so much, you're not alone dude. However no-one is perfect, I suck at a lot of things I wish I was good at, I know its frustrating but while you're bad in some things, you're great in others.

You shouldn't even be mentioning Youtube, you know most of those persons doesnt care of anyone, they just post crap comments on every video ignoring the video-maker's effort. If you like what you make, then that should be enough, you dont need to accomplish anyone, just be proud of yourself.

I think your problem with socializing comes related to a lack of confidence in yourself. There is no reason to freak out when your among a crowd, you shouldn't even care of them, just try to dont get nervous, you just need to understand they are common persons like you or me and they are not better than you, therefore there is no reason to experience anxiety.

I have somewhat of the same problem man when it comes to socializing I suck at it and to be honest im kinda scared being gay and all kinda puts me on the edge when it comes to talking to people, i often get that feeling like "omg they know" although I have not been diagnosed with anything im the type to handle my problems as they come. As Integrate said you just have a lack of confidence, Try doing some confidence builders like going out with friends, holding study groups and all try to get a bit of confidence man. Just think of yourself as a part of a living team, open yourself up to people I know it might sound hard but I know a load of people love smiling faces way more than sad faces. Its not always the things that shows on the outside but the inside that matters. Also dont try so hard to succeed in everything just take it one step at a time. If your not good in one things practice you cant be the greatest in everything but that should not get you down that should keep you motivated if you cant be the best just push, push, push and have the determination to be better.
It is also good to find something good that you do like playing the guitar, record some online like you tube and all BTW i love music i might listen to it sometime you never know man you have to explore. I know I bowl and i used to get really mad because I used to see bowlers way younger that be bowling like 245-260 and I was stuck at 12-160 but i kept at it and kept at it and never gave up now Im 20 and Im bowling 284 AVG. 300 even game's i barely lose only because of other players handicap scores, but that just goes to show you if you work at it, you can achieve it. Dont let your depression and all of that other stuff get you down fight for what you want. Mean what you say and say what you mean.

Say : I CAN DO IT I CAN ACHIEVE AND BE WHAT I WANT

It's just the fact that even sticking with it I don't seem to be improving. My Girlfriend is great at being encouraging but sometimes I feel I shouldn't NEED her to be my motivation 24/7 I feel I need to man up and encourage myself but I never can

Are you seeing a guitar tutor? or are you self taught? I'd recommend taking classes if you aren't already, they help!

You can still make new friends, I know what having anxiety is like, meet up one-to-one and go out somewhere for half an hour, just chill. Then next time go out for a couple of hours, get to know them. I find once I connect with people and get to know them, I don't panic and I can actually breathe when I'm with em ;) Then, once you're comfortbale, have someone else come along. Eventually you'll have a small group of friends who don't freak you out, and you mentally associate with not panicking. Give it a go!

I wouldn't feel depressed/mad at yourself If I were you. I know some guy who has been playing the guitar for three years [no classes, teaching himself] fail miserably. Until of late, he started becoming better at it. My suggestion to you is, keep doing what you like to do, and good things and results will come soon enough my friend!

Anxiety and depression are very hard to cope with, but If you have the the right mindset, then anything is possible. Try surrounding yourself with positive energy and people you love. Hopefully something changes for the better in your life. You can do it man, and If you ever need a chat, PM me and I will be more than glad to inbox you my Skype. I hope this helps. :)

I had so much trouble being motivated to play the guitar. My advice is don't just play a guitar song; a lot of songs can be converted so you can play the chords with guitar, that helped alot because the songs i liked playing were piano; ect.

I think ultimatechord is where i found most of the music. Good luck with trying to stick to it though!

Honestly man, I can't really tell you anything that will make your depression go away. That's something that you gotta work on step by step on your own because its nearly impossible for someone on a forum to solve your personal issues that are the underlying cause of it or if its a chemical thing we can't tell you anything that will make it feel better.

Honestly with regards to the youtube videos, Rome wasn't built in a day. If that is your passion just keep throwing them out there, try other websites too, people will eventually see your dedication and start following you if you continue with the dedication to it. If you just say that its not working and give up you are just feeding into your own depression. You miss 100% of the shots you don't take so its always worth doing especially if you love doing it given your circumstances.
