need some help with photoshop-c4d conversion, please help!

Hello I have a few quick questions for anybody who can answer them so...Now I have my text as seen below in my signature how am I supposed to incorporate things into the photo? Suppose I wanted my signature to be Static with lightning and smoke all around it, how would I do this? would I just find an image and copy and paste it onto my photo in a background layer? --- i've actually tried this, the photo of lightning I liked had black all around it though, so I Have no idea how to incorporate it into my signature, also if I wanted to have my font and the material is like fire, could I do that if I just downloaded a custom texture/colour?

sorry if this is really basic stuff >.> i'm pretty new to GFX still working out the kinks.

If you save that as a .png It will come up as transparent and you won't have the squares showing.
