    Remove post count in Suggestions

Reason being, what's the difference between "I support" and "I support because I think this is a good idea, and it would be fun!"?

They're both the same, both just as unhelpful, but for some reason the second one doesn't deserve an infraction while the first does. It doesn't make sense, by our rules the only thing we shouldn't infract for is intense philosophical discussion, and debate on the inherited repercussions of ones support for our fine or fickle ideas. But then we don't want to be douche bags and infract someone who put in a tiny bit of effort to type out 10 more words than "I support", but we're forced to infract people who literally see no point in blabbering when they just plain and simply support an idea.

My proposal is to remove the post count so that people can go ahead and show their support by simply posting "I support" when there's literally nothing better to be said.

I know when I make a suggestion, I'd rather have a bunch of spammed "I support" messages rather than a few votes on a poll, and no one posting otherwise.

Lol I support this idea even though I post a ton of suggestions.

I don't do it for the "post count" I do it because when I get an idea I think would be helpful I actually wanna share it and get others opinions. Plus, it helps me become better known around Sythe if people find my ideas good.

So, just to prove its not for a post count I do support this idea.

I never knew this gives post count. Support as it is way too easy to get post count here.

And you read my mind. Pretty good idea yah now I wont have to sit and think what more should I add to "support" so that I avoid an infraction. Hmmm perfect idea. Gj

It's kind of taking away a reason to be active in the community in some ways - some people do it for the post count as an incentive.

Maybe just stricter rules on what an "I support" message is.

This. If you're going to take away post count here, then you might a well take post count away in community general and the feedback sub forum as well.

For example on the Happy Birthday Thread, I could literally say "Happy Birthday XXX" and get a free post, which does not need any thought or philosophical reasoning put into it. In the Where did name here go thread, same thing. Linking a scam report or a pardon is one thing, but some people just SPECULATE or go on tangents and its obvious that they want the free post count.

In the Feedback section, I've seen too many times people saying "Good job keep up the good work" or "Need to be more active". Again these are examples of even more spam and are equally (if not worse) than saying "I support because I think this is a good idea, and it would be fun!"

Support as people like tgnDean use this section to POSTFARM.

On the other hand - this section will die / turn into SF as people will think it doesnt add to post count..

Just because there's no post count doesn't mean it'll degrade into another spam forum. There will still be rules concerning straying off topic, flaming, flooding, etc. Just no rule or pressure on people who simply want to post "I support" or "I don't support"

If they don't want to remove the post count then they could just simply start letting users say "I support" Because like you already mentioned, that is much easier than coming up with a background story on why you support their idea, some people might actually just think its a good idea.

Lol you and this postfarm shit... I agreed to take the post count away above because of this guy right here, been messin with me all week!

    There are two methods

    Method 1
Keep the postcount, make the rules for support/no-support posts be more in depth, at least giving a reason.

    Method 2
Remove the postcount, but then you'd be allowing support/no-support at a guess.

Support it's basically free post count to say support or not. I mean some people live here and post some dumb suggestions.

And at IDB we consider just support as spam so people are encouraged to elaborate.

I think what he's getting at is that reasons like "Support, it'd be really fun to have X implemented" would also count as spam. Be a bit less lenient but keep post count.

This exactly. Reasons why it could/would work would be more suitable, as then you wouldn't get the postcount farmers, you'd get the people who generally have an idea about the suggestion and what impact it would have, positive and negative.

I've different feelings about this suggestion. I know some people are just boosting their posts by making useless posts. However if people are willing to get their post count up as fast as possible they'll simply post in other sections. eg. account sales, many people posting 'I"m interested' or they're bidding, when the sellers tries to contact the guy he'll get ignored or there's been told they've already bought an account.

In short, we can update several forums / sub forums to none post count raising forums but the result will be more useless posts in forums where posts count.

    Cheers!

What kind of reason is "it would be fun" thought? It's a valid reason, but it's absolutely NO MORE HELPFUL than simply "I support"

    That's exactly what:
    implies.

Don't strip users of post count, simply make "I support = SPAM" a little harsher.

I don't want to make it harsher, I think it's stupid to infract for "I support" or any variation. Sometimes that's all that needs to be said

When you start looking at removing post count in one section you can find reasons to remove it in other sections and it just has a snowball effect. I think the moderation just needs to be more lenient here.
