Spam Forum Regulation finally decided upon

There are several inconsistencies in the moderation of the spam forum, some mods infract and others don't bother as they say it is just the spam forum.

I agree with Malakadang here. As what some people say, if you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.

This is what you (staff) should do, but in blunt terms:

This really needs to be decided upon.

I've complained a lot about the staff lately, probably more than I should but most of the points I have brought up were within reason, otherwise I would have been infracted by now (Which I haven't)

So I extremely support this idea, mainly because one of my biggest problems with staff right now is that you have half of them telling you one thing, then the other half issuing out bans/infractions for things they were given the impression was ok.

For example: Say I make a topic in the SF saying how much Jack Goff is a faggot (I don't think this Lol) and one of the mods even comments on it perhaps laughing or something like that. I'm going to get the impression that its OK to make a thread like this.

2 days later, I make another thread about a different person, same reason. This time, I get infracted because the mod that happens to see it first does things a little different than the last one. Make sense?

So, if we can't start setting some firm rules in the SF to just stop most of the nonsense all together for the excuse of it "Being the Spam Forum" then mods should have to sit down with their fellows and make a decision together.

what really fucks me off is that everyone who already participates is having fun, flaming and shit and can obviously handle it. and then some fucker comes along and complains and ruins it for EVERYONE else.

and they say they are trying to keep members? by buzzkilling spam forum for the loyal users to accommodate the cries of one user. just a bunch of shit.

Blank posting is an infractable offense. Therefore, your post is pointless, and infracted for spamming (just saying "support" is spam, read the stickies). For the record, I have no problem with you, but some of your posts do piss me off (and I'm sure that works both ways).

On topic, I do agree that it would be more fair if we all punished evenly, however think of it in a real life scenario, when a cop pulls people over for speeding, he gives some people a warning and gives others a ticket.

The bottom line is, the spam forum needs some moderation, but as for how much, that is to be decided I guess.

Except your analogy doesn't make sense, considering this is not about warnings and "tickets", it's about the actual length of moderation in a sub forum.

 

Why does it need moderation? At powerbot they have the Mature (18+) and Random sub forums. I'm not sure about Random but Mature (18+) doesn't get moderated and it does fine.

 

If I remember correctly, it was moderated for porn. (obviously)

 

Have to agree with this. Can't even count the times staff as claimed that they are "Looking into the matter" or "It is being discussed" just to never be handled or brought back up again.

Your analogy sort of made sense Corey, but those cops that left you off with warnings are doing it because they are being nice or giving you a second chance when in reality they are suppose to give you a ticket.

Problem around here is you can't give certain users a warning without everyone seeing it and going off if they weren't given the same kindness.. Just like the second person that cop pulls over wont know he gave his last
victim a warning.

There is no middleman here, you either always enforce the rules, or don't enforce them at all.

 

That's a decent level of moderation, we don't want anything like torrents, porn and what-not posted in there but I say everything else is fair game.

 

I support a staff meet-up to conclude the official rules of the Spam Forum.

 

If blank posting warrants an infraction, then threads/posts like this: http://www.sythe.org/spam-forum/1515535-hippo.html, should be infraction worthy also. I don't know about you guys, but I sure as hell don't want to spend 2 minutes scrolling all the way down to the bottom of the page just to see what the latest post is. Not only does it waste my time, but irritates my index finger when I'm scrolling.
