So... is Runescape really finished...

I haven't played in like 8 or 9 months, but EoC doesn't sound that bad. Plus the game is still gaining almost as many new players as it is losing players.

 

Don't think it's finished, the game will attract a new generation of players which will be great for the game and hopefully community also. It's really sad that these updates have pretty much ruined the game for the people, like me, that have played for years but I think the game will still go on for many years to come. Jagex are investing massive amounts of money on new updates and also advertising campaigns on TV etc. to bring in, and keep a new influx of players to breathe some life into this dying game - hopefully it works.

 

Game is fine, I don't play it as much but still enjoy it when I do.

 

It's fine. People that hate change will always think the game is dying after every major update.

 

I havn't actually played the game for like a year. ever since andrew and paul have gone the game has turned into trash.

 

The old rs is dead, the rs now might be crappy to everyone now but to people who are just finding out about it probably think its the beez neez.

 

RS although has stepped up advertising on Kids tv channels, that might bring new people like my brother who now wants an account.

 

I don't think it will die.. Just a change in players. I mean the EoC is just like most other MMOs with the combat tools and cool down time of different attacks. I don't think it is the new combat system that is killing the game, as much as I think its the economy.

But I think new players will come to the game that wouldn't play with the old combat system because it was outdated.

 

Runescape used to be great I remember when the wilderness didn't have a ditch lol. & when recharging prayer from edge used to be somewhat hard. It was so simple back then but so much better

 

missed the days when 1m was actually $4, not 0.40...

rs is making stupid updates which destorys the whole game ..

 

For some reason, Jagex are releasing updates that are quite untested where some glitch or bug finders can easily exploit and generate a thousand or endless amount of cash. There are several cases of this bug abuse which is one of the main reason why prices of RS Gold drastically went down at that point.

With regards about Runescape if it is dying or not, it seems that 30% percent of the players had remained out from the EoC and Botwatch. If another bad update is going to happen then these remaining 30 percent might go down to 20 or 10%. So it actually depends on the next move of Jagex's update.

Anyway, the 'Refer a Friend' promo indicates that they had really lost a lot of their players which is why they have to result into this kind of promotion.

IIRC Runescape was ruined after every patch before.

 

RuneScape has a fine future. EoC will eventually draw more players in, and with more updates to come including 2 new skills I can see the playerbase growing. Some updates remove players, some gain them, only time will tell though.

 

Yeah you're right man, and it's the same old story, people cry after every update.

 

Although I do like the new combat to an extent, they have just changed the game too much, and yes i think it is slowly dying and Jagex knows this. RS won't be able to compete with other MMORPGs in the future, and they already can't.

Most of the core playerbase has gone, and I can't see RS lasting too long i the future, I'd say maybe 8 years max, and then will end up like Everquest has.

 

love how people make statistics up like 90% people quit its at its best after 06 most people who say it isnt never played or are just nostalgia

 

You can tell that the community is getting upset, just read the forums or listen to the youtube videos. Its clear that people are getting tired of Jagex's shit.

 

Nope, most of the are nostalgic bandwagon EoC haters. Most do not see the problem with end-game content. They are only limited to the middle-level portion of the game.

I personally enjoy the EoC. There are problems with the game and the last patch felt untested and rushed. I just wished they put a bit more time into QA testing.

Runescape may appear to be dying compared Active players, but in reality I'm seeing more new players join the game than before.

 

I quit before the EOC not cause I heard about it and I thought it was shit

But because I was bored of RS, there's only a few hundred hours one can endure from one game and still find fun. Lol.
