unsure what to make of this.

its a good idea as it may prevent someone one day of being scammmed but like alot of people have said in this post its mainly stolen paypals that will charge back.

also if someone did want to charge back on their own paypal account, could they not just change the email of their paypal address after and carry on?

Yes they can change their email but changing the name on their paypal account is a lot harder to make.

 

Minor changes can be done to the name, and it isn't that easy. Would be noticeable.

 

...and this is the reason why this thread should be made sticky if only most of the users here on Sythe would know about it. Most unlikely, all what they know is that Paypal's email can be change that's why the petition wasn't been approved.

With regards about the use of the hacked paypal, most of these accounts are owned by people who doesn't have anything to do with the game Runescape such as Parents. Thus, it is still best to add their paypal account on the list wherein we are even helping them with their account from getting abused.

Furthermore, Paypal has increased their security logging system wherein you can enable the pin entry code before you can access your account. Thus, paypal isn't easy to hack these days but not unless the owner of the account are too dumb enough to provide the details of his or her account to any untrusted sites or individual either online of offline.

Anyway, by the time that I had added the link into this Paypal Blacklist thread on my signature, I noticed that dealing with the obvious scammers has been minimized.

 

I tried to make it sticky as a suggestion already. Got disapproved for most stupid reasons. No actually good reasons were made not to sticky. Also Paypal is increasing their security you said for business sakes

Yap, I've checked the thread that you made and it is really very disappointing that most of the members who responded keeps on saying that emails can be changed not knowing that besides the emails being compiled are the names which is the most vital part of pin-pointing a scammer because it is a lot harder to be changed. Another thing that disappoint me is that they closed the thread just before I can even provide my own opinion.

Perhaps I will whenever I have some extra time to do it. Anyway, making this thread either sticky or not will surely help others with an open mind on how to use this compilation for their safety upon using paypal. I just feel sorry for those individuals who strictly believe only on the part that email can be changed on paypal which is just one part of trying to determine a scammer.

yes but what about if 1 day somone recieves a chargeback from ''luke smith'' for example, and his name is blacklisted here, but then another person who is also looking to buy gold and also has the same name ''luke smith''but is a different person to the other ''luke smith'' tries to buy gold but is denied because his name is blacklisted?

what im trying to say it is not impossible or even that uncommon infact for people to have the same names.


would like to point out i still support this topic as i feel it can only help prevent scams on the other hand.

Yes, I am aware that there are some people who are different but they do accidentally have the same names but as for me they are very uncommon to be encountered. Anyway, if such case happens to me then here's what I have to do since I wouldn't risk trading with the person praying that he or she isn't the person who enjoys chargingback in the end after the trade;

What to do?

I will use other alternative payment option such as Player Auction, Liberty Reserve, WebMoney, MoneyPak, WesternUnion and etc... as an alternative payment for him or her and that's how simple it is.

Now, what if you have encountered a person listed on this Paypal Blacklist Compilation and you are not aware of it then you continued to accept direct Paypal payment from him or her?

Well, there's nothing that you can do but pray that he or she won't be charging back. It's like you have 50:50 percent chance of getting scammed which I as a seller as well couldn't risk.

You might say that you will lose a potential buyer which reduces profit by offering him or her other alternative payment options which he or she is unable to use for some reason.

Again, you will lose even more if you are too unfortunate enough to deal with the same person who enjoys charging back. So why take the risk?
