Lol. Marijuana legalized: No longer cool. That'll definitely be the mindset of a lot of kids. Also, the biggest concern that the government has with marijuana is its ability to cause a decrease in productivity. If people all started smoking they would definitely be less productive causing an overall decrease in the production possibilities curve of the American economy.

 

That's definitely not the biggest concern the government has with marijuana. It doesn't affect everyone the same, and doesn't automatically make you suddenly unable to do any work. Plus your point is moot because once it's legalized, it's not like everyone's gonna start smoking it. It's gonna be mostly the same people who are smoking weed now.

 

Alcohol effects productivity much worse? Wouldn't you use that in the same context to try promote and your arguement? Don't be silly, people use marijuana socially and responsibily just like the majority of people do with alcohol, sure you will have a few people who will consistently use it but surely we already have that issue with alcohol already? It's a redundant point.

Of course it should be legal! There has been no deaths caused by marijuana other than car crashes and stuff like that but no know deaths for over dose. Cigarettes are way worse for you and they defiantly have known deaths caused by cigarettes but yet they are legal, And alchol (imo) is worse that marijuana and yet thats still legal, And marijuana is good for you in some cases. If they were to make marijuana legal have sell it. What would the warning label say on it? - WARNING: May cause happiness and make it so you cant feel pain?

I don't think it should be illegal, but people need to be realistic about pot. I've worked as an intern doctor for a few months now and this "marijuana doesn't kill" notion is absolute bollocks. True, nobody will ever overdose on pot, but the amount of accidents and deaths caused by stoned drivers or stupid decisions do cause a lot of deaths and harm every year. Maybe not as much as alcohol or cigarettes, but still enough that it becomes unbearable at times to deal with.

I see too many people come into ER or put into ICU's because of the drug. It's worse when the person was completely innocent in it all.

In the grand scheme of things though, most people smoke pot responsibly much like they do alcohol, and the sensible majority should not be punished for the inappropriate minority. If made illegal it should have the same safe usage campaigns as alcohol has, and the true dangers should be taught as they are for cigarettes rather than have everyone religiously defend it because nobody has ever overdosed on it.
