"Landmark" Miniranks

These were discussed in the original Spam forum post but I would like to make some sort of community post about the ranks. The purpose of this thread is to possibly revive discussion of the ranks.

I was thinking of a system of "automated" ranks-- a monthly "x" posts in the Spam Forum gets you that rank, hitting "Forum addict" or "Guru" or any post count rank gets you one, referring 5 friends gets you one, etc. etc. would be very nice to have and would give users who are not deep into the community a goal to have (which would boost activity.)

Again I'm not sure if this idea is still being discussed and developed. Even if it is, let this be ground to suggest any sort of minirank or idea.

I would hope that everyone could get their miniranks (achievements!) if they chose to work toward a goal.

Edit: I am aware of the intentions to make the miniranks automated. I was hoping for this to function more as an ideas thread.

 

I'm pretty sure the intentions were for reaching a certain amount of posts in each section but I think its still in development of being automated.

I agree that they are exclusive, i am doing the Facebook thing all day and nothing, and yet some get it instantly which is really unfair and totally biased, I support with some of the Mini-Ranks being a landmark hit as/if hitting x number of posts in a forum, less bias and more ranks available.
Why do we get less and some members who don't do a piece of crap get everything, really unfair.

 

Ye so true im in the spam forum all day and always referring friends to the facebook page and yet nothing. Id have to agree with Cynthia its really not fair for some to get it instantly for basically doing nothing.

 

I thought they planned to do this all long but if not, support.

 

i support this i feel atm that these min ranks are only for mods/trusted people who have alot of rep i like your idea of posting a certain amount of times in a form or something like that

 

This sums up my view as well, I agree with the OP in that they are very exclusive at the moment, and I think regulating them based on post-count or posts in certain sections utilising an automated system would be best.

 

Last I heard, the code just wasn't ready to be implemented for auto-assigning them.

 

A minrank center functioning much like the donation center would be great as well.
Pick up to a certain number of miniranks if you have over a certain number and choose to hide them if you want.

 

But if you have a rank like graphic forum participant and spam forum participant wouldn't that mean everyone in the forum get one how does that work ? But the way it seems to be working at the moment is moderates and admins/Trusted members are just getting handouts.

 

You need to be friends what mods/admins that is the key to ranks.

 

Haha I aint kissing no ass for a Rank I just find it kinda funny that the ranks are just showing up for MODS and Those who are friends with moderates and arent showing up for Regular members who are actually putting effort into getting the ranks, that's kinda fucked up in my opinion, but we shall see where things go. I know I see spam forum mini ranks on peeps who don't participate half as much as other members I see but o well, its the site's mini ranks let them have it.

No one has been awarded the Facebook mini rank yet so you are HIGHLY mistaken on that part.

 

Yaroow has one, but i don't want to argue with you, i just thought that People could get them more easily

A quick look at the thread sythe created would show you that these ranks are meant to be automated. As for the rest of you butt hurts complaining certain members got their ranks, the reason they got it was because they created it.

 

so I can create one and get the rank because I created it or because I actually do the things that's its meant to represent ? ? ? Cause if so I would like to create one.

 

I support this idea, I just got done suggesting we added a new rank earlier.

Any ideas like this that would be easy to implement can only help Sythe, the only bad thing I could see coming from our suggestions are users abusing sections to try to get their count up, things like that.

Its a small problem, but not something that should cause this idea to be shot down. Support

 

I don't agree or disagree, I agree for the reason it will boost the activity of users who strive for these goals, but disagree as some newbies will see some-one with a tonne and assume there trusted and such, unless it is made clear to new people that they are JUST fun.

 

I know. I'm just trying to bring up some discussion. Jiwi, for example, had a great idea which I do not believe was ever expressed.
