I like this idea it would help stop scammers but you would have to deposit the money through non-chargebackable payments e.g WU

Lol whatever you say sir, like it's already been said, any website out there can be hacked, if websites were to cower behind the idea that something like this might happen there would be no room for great improvements.

Then again, I am arguing with a newcomer that seems to think he knows a thing or two. Enjoy your stay at Sythe.org, however short it may be my friend.

Why are you even arguing. It is clear you have no information on sythe at all... Its a good idea and i think sythe is secure enough to handle it. They was hacked in the past and im positive that they have learnt from that.

    Please do not argue folks.
And I disagree with the opinion that something like this would make us a target for hackers. First, we already are. Second, if someone were to hack the site they would want the database which already exists not the virtual gold.

This is on the DNS list + you deleted the OP.

I'm assuming you're talking about a Sythe currency, but I cannot tell because you deleted the OP.

haven't really given it a good read, but from what I read it's basically a scam proof method of trading real money without using external websites, if that's it then full support from me, if that's not it, feel free to correct me

Well, if whoever implements and helps make this does it right, it could prevent a good bit, if not all scammers from getting away with stolen money.

I know a lot of us would hate to see transaction holds on our wallets, but even a 12 hour hold is enough time to report the scammer to Sythe and allow them to put a Perm hold on the transaction until a decision is made.

Can we get some more support! The more we want this the better the chances of making it happen!

They could hack values... but systems could be put to control that.

Instant backup to a secondary server would do fine.

The system could take a lot of time to fully be developed but it's worth it.

Topic hasn't been closed so bump, hoping to get some more support

E: as I was reading through some of what others had said again I seen a point that was brought up about 'the money would be dumped off by the scammer before a report could be filed and leaving Sythe to pay for it'

Simple fix, and also to satisfy others with the transaction holds. All trades have 1 hour holds on them before you may access the funds, now to prevent it from being spent before the scammer gets away, inside your wallet
should be a transaction history (Something that should be added if this gets implemented) and within that history tab will be a button you push to alert Sythe the transaction may need reversed. That button will IMMEDIATELY put a permanent hold on the funds until a decision is reached as to whether a scam has occurred or not.

I think we can all handle waiting an extra hour for our payment if it means the end to a lot of scammers can't we?

If you had a 24 hour delay between the payout of the Sythe Cash/from the wallet, then the currency is a soft one, and in that 24 hours a scam report or whatnot could be filed, rendering the payment invalid and thus the equivalent of a chargeback. If such a system were to be implemented, the payments made from a Sythe wallet would need to be instant and irreversible.

Read my post above you, I edited it =D

E: the payment would be froze until the scammer was proven guilty or innocent. So even they freeze the money, and someone was trying to just saying they got scammed to get their cash back, they would still need proof, just like any other scam report. Also, the post I made above this helps with this argument

Mods aren't able to settle a scam dispute inside of an hour. Holding funds for the days it takes for a scam report to be completed is unfair to anybody who legitimately conducts business and has had somebody attempt to chargeback on them.

The only reason anybody would try to chargeback a payment with this system is if they have been scammed... So you're just talking in circles. In order for the person to win a successful chargeback using this system is to prove the other person scammed them, if no report is made (report transaction button) within one hour then the payment will be unlocked. Nobody is going to make a report if they don't have proof, and adding a rule to ban users with no proof would help prevent trolls.. Anything else?

E: "hits report button" message pops up- are you sure you want to report this transaction. Any attempts to do so without valid reason or proof of a problem could result in a ban.

Regardless of whether or not there are repercussions on people who have made a false chargeback, the other player is still forced to wait, sometimes up to a week, in order to receive their payment once it is deemed that a scam did not take place. I'm not debating whether or not a person COULD prove this or not, what I am saying is that the other party is forced to wait ridiculous amounts of time for what is essentially not their problem, and this could be avoided by using alternate currencies or means of exchange.

Assume for a moment that a person is making a rash sale because they quickly need some cash to buy a new xbox gamertag. This person then sells their product at a reduced price to a new player who pays first. The vendor then hands over their product as promised, but the buyer then claims he was scammed and freezes the transaction of his funds whilst an investigation into the circumstances of the matter begins. This then means the seller is unable to afford the gamertag that they sought and have to sit through the process of waiting for the investigation to conclude that no scam occurred, during which time the gamertag may have been sold.

Also, you did not factor in that if a person is middlemanning a deal (because one or both parties are not familiar with the system or another reason), they will be forced to wait the one hour to ensure that the other player won't file a scam report against them. Or, if the deal takes longer than an hour, the player in question will be UNABLE to file a scam report.

Either way, your system is flawed, so copping an attitude with me because I'm pointing out flaws in your suggestion is a pointless waste of both our time. Also, just a tip, when your argument in a debate includes things such as "Nobody will do this" or "The only reason is that", you are going to lose.

Only got one thing to ask, how on earth would a deal taking longer than an hour stop them from freezing the payment?.. Once you pay the deal is done.. If it takes you an hour to press that report button something is wrong... And I never copped an attitude with you, I actually enjoy hearing other thoughts until they start getting mouthy and angry when people disagree like a user already done in this thread once.

Let's bring back that MM situation shall we? Ok, so you're doing a deal right, the MM/yourself/other person has computer issues - IT HAPPENS - and the deal is put on pause. Are you going to claim you were scammed? Probably not, but if this pushes the length of the deal out to over an hour - such as what happened today with an iTunes code for RSGP transaction where the RS servers were preventing all three of us from logging in due to game freezes - this would mean you were unable to press that report button. The report button adds more problems than it solves, and if it was removed I would support the implementation of this system.

If a system has a report button, or any way at all to freeze payments, there is still going to be a high amount of suspicion when dealing with new users. If this report button was removed, then deals with new users are much more viable, and MMs would not have as rough of a time than if such a failsafe were implemented.

Going back to the computer issues scenario, if people whose computers crash during a trade hit that report button to freeze their payment, then the staff would be sifting through dozens of scam reports where circumstances were out of the control of both parties. I'm not getting mouthy and angry with you either, I just think that flippant comments such as "Anything else?" have no place in a discussion/debate thread where we are SUPPOSED to be pointing out holes in suggestions to make sure that only the suggestions and recommendations that are the best, and are as close to perfect as possible are the ones that are passed.

    Also,
You're saying that a deal taking longer than an hour would still allow them to freeze a payment. If this deal involved a middleman - MIDDLEMEN WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY STILL EXIST EVEN WITH SUCH AN IMPLEMENTATION - that means that once the middleman has your funds, there is no earthly way that there could be any complications lasting over an hour according to you.

EDIT: I've written 807 words in this thread so far, that's an essay right there.

Lol on the essay comment, I see what you are saying, so any easier way to fix it would be longer than hour holds, something that would give enough room for possible problems that may occur.

E: or how about this, no holds on money being sent, but time periods on how long before you can cash out, users would get use to only cashing out on certain days, like once a week. And if a scam did happen, that would give the mods all the time they need
