What do you do/want to do for a living? Why?

One thing I've always been interested in is what other people do/want to do for a living. I like to hear why they chose their path in life and how their career has shaped their life. People always have an interesting story to tell about their lives and my interest in their stories never seems to depress.​

I want to work with Astronomy in some way or form. Be it tracking asteroids, or studying distant planets or stars.

Starting/Current Salary(optional): Based on commission and I'd rather not say what I made.
Required Education (if any): Need high school diploma + 6 exams passed which have to do with Real Estate to get your licence
Do you enjoy your job? (Yes/No(why?)) No, too much competition, too many loopholes, too many unappreciative people, and too much government influence on the state of real estate income.

I'm trying to get into the stock market now because I have nothing else to do with the money and I don't want to blow it away. Probably trying to get into stocks within a couple of weeks/months after I do some more research.

 

What made you wanna choose Astronomy?

 

Job Name: Kitchen Porter
Job Description: Cleaning and helping chefs prep food.
Years Working: 4 months (just turned 17)
Starting/Current Salary(optional): £3.68/hour minimum wage ftw.

Though the reason I got this job is my desired job is a chef, not as inspirational but its what I wanna do, my dream job would be running my own business but I'm not that smart and can't be fucked with more education.

 

Have you ever considered getting an MBA or going back to school for a degree in economics or finance?

 

I'm still in University, I'll have a degree in Business Administration with a major in finance next year.

 

I'm sure culinary school would help you achieve your desired job as a chef. Why not research that?

And as for running your own business; It's very possible to start as a chef and eventually open your own restaurant with a unique business design. ^_^

 

I'm considering a degree in finance or economics, but I have no clue what the studies are like. Is there any relevance to the general studies of Science, Math, History, English, etc.? Like, a doctor's relevant studies would be mainly be in Science (Bio, Chem), a lawyer's in English; what (if any) subject would be a prominent study while achieving a degree in finance/econ?

(Sorry if this question is too ambiguous, it's hard for me to word exactly what I'm wanting to ask )

 

Accounting courses, economic courses, general business courses, math is used but its not very difficult math, finance courses, and marketing courses. I don't know about focusing on economics because a lot of people are able to get an economics degree through a BA program and I wouldn't know how those degree programs differ. The courses I mentioned are what I encountered so far but there can be more or less depending on the University.

 

What are those courses like? Could you give examples of specific topic's studied? If you wouldn't mind a little discussion...

Wouldn't you also need at least a 4 year degree as well?

 

Astronomy has always been a big interest of mine. I've even gone as far as to have the solar system tattooed on my arm, heh.

Required Education (if any): None really, although to break in, you'd probably need a degree.

I'm doing a bachelor of laws and arts this year, but am transferring to law and commerce next semester. Hopefully I'll be able to get an internship somewhere along the way (haven't looked that far yet), then work and see how far I get; if I don't like it, then I'll start my own business.

Business has always been a passion of mine, and law not far behind, so being able to do both simultaneously at uni will hella fun, paving the foundation for future job opportunities.

 

Dream Job would be...
Physicist
So that when an accident happens at work I develope super powers and become a cool villain and rule the world mauahahha.

On a more serious response
If it was possible Id be a Doctor, because they have such a cool job, doing amazing things saving lives and such. But thats not possible for me, so oh well.

 

What kind of company would you like to run?

 

Why do you say it isn't possible for you? My family is full of doctors, and it is my main pursuit right now, right in front of finance(that's my fall-back option )

 

Culinary School or whatever is not in England, or if it is its not close, idk what it is, anyway, the head chef said he wanted me to be a chef before he leaves and I'm going to college in September to get the degree.
