How much is a first car and what shall it be?

Ok I turned 17 October last year and having a year break from education and workin full time for minimum wage xD, I earn £3.68/hour (about $5.50)

I want a rough price on the total price of getting a car and that.

I want any car really, a shitty old one will do,
I'm guessing I can get a car for like £600-700?

Anyway, how much will Insurance and tax be? Everytime I ask ANYONE in real life they say "it depends" its really annoying, cause when they were younger prices differnt and shit and now they're older and more experienced prices are so differn't,

The car will be relatively small, no bigger than a Ford Mondeo, I am English, 17, most likely past test first time, I don't know what else comes into factor as a insurance/tax pricer, please ask and give me a rough estimate.

 

Rough price : depends what you get lol.. £500 quid will get you a banger
Insurance : on your own maby 1-2K

 

We honestly can't tell you the price of your insurance, get the quotes yourself from local insurance companies.

 

500-900 Quid will get you an old but good car, insurance.. no idea, if its on your own 900 quid?

 

Call up some insurance companies and ask them. A lot of the online comparison websites give expensive quotes. You can actually get quite decent cars for £700 and under, you just need to do a lot of research.

 

My first car was a golf mk4, 1.4 , Cost me £1300.

 

I'd say minimum £700/£800 if you don't want a complete rust bucket.

A reasonably safe amount would be £1000.

Regarding insurance you just need to shop around and find the best price from there, some companies have different policies on age, gender, car etc.

 

My insurance is $268/mo for full coverage. 19 with a 2004 mazda and no past driving history.. through geico. Make sure you shop around for insurance or your going to get screwed. progressive gave me a $3k+/6mo policy quote

 

You can buy a decent car for around £500-£700. Insurance would cost quite alot, could vary from £1000-£2000.

 

Get a 85-87 corolla. And they can be pretty good on gas millage. I've seen then going for around $800 for the SR-5 version. The GTS is a little more.

And as everyone else said car insurance all depends on what you get, who you go through and where you live.

u can get online insurance quotes. since u live in england your main worry should be insurance, because that's where they really buttfuck you.

car will be like under 1000 quid for ya, but good lord insurance could be unreal high if you want full coverage. i remember a guy here awhile saying for him to get insured was somewhere around 8000 euros or some shit

 

Car's for around $1000/£1000, You should get pretty reasonable motor. Depending where you live it's the insurance you want to be careful of. Although you can pay it by the month .

If your looking for a good car I would try to save up about 1500 to 2500. I bought my car about 7 months ago for 3050$ the tags and title were about 300$ and my insurance is only running me about 70$ a month with just liability. Now also take into consideration if you try to put a down payment on a car you have to get full coverage. depending on where you live.

 

You're english, so you have the same problem as me. I got a vauxhall combo 1.3 CDTI for £2200, then the insurance was £2400. I'd recommend getting a Corsa/Saxo/Fabia/Polo/Fox/Clio as your first car, as they're cheap to buy, and relatively cheap to insure, around £2-3k.

Possibly me, when I had the porsche that I bought to sell on, I was offered insurance for between £8-12k by different companies.

 

You can easily get a decent car for under a grand, the insurance will probably set you back £1-2k, but of course it depends
