P90X - unorthodox fashion, still going for it. [Daily pictures]

Hey guys, today I'll be starting the 90 day process to getting in shape - a workout routine known as P90X.

Before I start the thread, I'll go ahead and let you all know a few things about me.

    Age: 19
Weight: 140-145(give or take a few pounds)
    Height: 5'11
    Smoker: Yes
    Drinker: Occasionally
    Max weight: 225

I never lost the weight entirely throughout my body, and still have thick sides, which is a priority to burn off during my 90 day experiment. You'll see what I mean in the pictures following.

Please keep posts positive, as this section isn't meant for hate. Thank you.

So, I'll go ahead and say this: I will not be following the program day-by-day as setup on their website. Nor will I be doing all of the exercises. I will be focusing on Plyometrics, Core Synergistics, and AbRipperX primarily, and combine these with daily push-up exercises (goal of 500 push-ups throughout the course of my day), and pull-up exercises (goal of 50 pull-ups throughout the course of my day). I also plan to run 1 mile every day, and walk 1 mile every day.

I am in no way already muscular, but I plan to be by the end of these 90 days. I do not wish to get HUGE, and I know with my current body build, I couldn't. I only plan on defining the muscles in each region, and getting in decent shape.

I will be running to my local gas station each day (Exactly 1.4 miles from the end of my driveway), buying a gatorade, and walking it back.

Here are the things I've purchased to assist me in my attempts.
    1x Universal chin-up bar
    1x Adjustable weight resistance bands
    1x 5.5LB protein mix
    1x 3LB muscle milk mix

Again, I ask that if you have something to say, please keep it positive. I'm gonna need all the support I can get, cause the next 90 days are gonna be hell. Thank you!

Alright, I'll go ahead and post my Day 1 pictures now.

The whole 90 days won't be hell, I'm a gym nut myself and I try to get my friends to work out. Although all of the smokers I have tried to get into shape have quit after the first workout..
I found that most of my friends wanted to give up, probably because they weren't used to be physically fatigued. But after about 1 week their bodies got used to it and they stopped complaining and just got on with it.

If you get through the first week without quitting you should do fine :)

Also, thread moved to Health & Fitness :)

I'm a heavy smoker, but I'm also physically active - I love to play football with friends, skateboard, etc. So I don't quit physical challenges all too easy :p

Thanks for the heads up on the first week tip, sounds like it may be more endurable than I expected! Haha.

I've never really been a huge fan of workout programs such as p90x and insanity, as I think a weight training program targeting your whole body and cardio (depending on goals) is all you really need....

I've tried insanity once a time ago and it is really aerobic based.. If you're going for a more marathon/runner body look then I think it's for you

But if you just want to look thick and ripped, in predilection to the aesthetics of a fitness model, then I highly recommend going the weights/diet/cardio route. In my opinion I don't think p90x or half of p90x I what you need.. Rather you're just using it as it provides a guideline for you to follow, however good luck with our endeavors!

Good luck with p90x, that stuff got boring for me really fast.

I like to stick to the gym, just simply because it keeps you more on track than being in an household setting does(atleast for me).
