Utterly Disgusted With The Fact That

Jagex feels the need to target maxed players and ban them for publicity-sake. Then again, that's the risk each and every one of us takes if we turn on a client and watch it go to work. However, what truly disgusts me is the fact that anyone AFFILIATED with the maxed player also received a ban. Not sure what the exact scenario was, but if it was anything to this extent: F4gexsucks (botter) is on your friends list, you shall receive a ban for having any contact with them whatsoever. Then I'm truly disgusted by that. do they expect us to interrogate every person in our friends list? If you've been playing for a decade chances are your friends list is near full, if not already full. And to be more realistic, if you've traded with them and given them things out of the kindness of your heart. Or vice versa, then you're more prone to receive the said ban. To sum things up, if you're maxed and have botted don't be surprised to a wake-up ban the next time you log off. It wouldn't surprise me if they're manually going through the top 5K people on RS and weeding out past and present botters for the sake of their legitimate fan base. I'm curious to hear your thoughts and reactions to this recent ban hammer. Right below is the highlighted text that Jagex posted on the RS home page, enjoy. They're just saying that, Jagex can't afford to ban players imo.. Because they've messed the game up that much it's pretty much only botters left lol. There still masses of bots everywhere.

 

The best way to deter new people from botting is make a public 'disgrace' of higher/respected players for it. Makes sense..

They can afford to ban people, since most players will just make a new account and bot on that (and buy membership)

 

every botter should stop paying and playing rs for a month that'll show 'em

 

By affiliated accounts, they mean a couple of things:

For botters:

The only affiliated accounts that would be banned would be goldfarming related accounts, or accounts that are part of RWTing or other methods of assisting RWTing/Goldfarming accounts. Other than that, not really many who'd be at risk

For cheaters (e.g. bug abuse, and other nonbotting rule-breaking):

People who helped with the abuse or rule breaking, or teams of players who work together to break a rule (e.g. Hax Unit being a team of players to bug abuse, etc)

If you're not guilty of any rule-breakage, then you're not at risk for a ban. Technically, Jagex is in the right, they are banning people who have broken rules or are "encouraging others to break rules." These players are making a choice to do something that is against the rules, and Jagex can justifiably ban them for it.

 

You can never get everyone to do that as many people live off botting.

 

They botted or used a bug and were banned. What's the big deal about it..? The rules say not to use marco's or exploit bugs.

Also i don't blame then for banning those maxed accounts for botting cause how many of those people in the top 100 even got all there skills legit? I'm sure it's like 5% of them play legit.

 

Not true at all. More like ~5-10% of them AREN'T legit. The top 100 are watched VERY closely. Some of them have even physically met Jagex Mods IRL, or been to Jagex HQ. Most if not all of the top 100 have Jagex Mods teleport to them to have a conversation. If they were botting, they'd very quickly meet their demise. I know someone who had access to the High-Level Forum (At least level 99 in ALL skills), and he is one of the richest players I've known, and he was banned using iDung way back in 2011. The top players get watched pretty closely.

 

I'd like to think it expands even further than the top 100 now, for publicity sake anyway. @Opinns, I understand your point, but you're in the wrong forum so it would seem as we promote botting here.

 

Total bullshit. I am a 200 maxed main with about 320m of my exp botted (14 99s botted) and i wasnt banned during this mass ban. But my newb account that i bot mining on got banned, and i was paying mems from the same IP address and there was an obvious connection between my 2 accounts. Only difference is, i spend money on squeel of fortune spins on my main so they make like 30$ a month off that account, theyre not going to ban me if i pay that much a month.

 

There is probably a max of like 5-7 people in the top 100 that have even met Jagex so i don't see how that's any concern? They could still bot even if they have met them. Just like Gertjaars, he was banned for botting like 2-3 years ago and was unbanned a 2-3 days later. They don't watch it close enough if he got away with botting.

Just means that people will have a better chance of getting in the top 100 then having to fight bots to get to it. Sure i do bot myself but i do have a LEGIT account that i've never botted on with 19 99's and was ranked in the top 5 years ago and don't think I'll ever see that spot again.

So any account that tried to join that player was banned but a few accounts.

Your logic sucks. Fishy bought hundreds of dollars worth of spins... he got 99 in multiple skills using the lamps. They permabanned his ass without a wink.

 

You do realize you take things too literal. If you would learn to read about what it actually means. It would make sense.

They do not mean anyone who has contact them. By associated they means other accounts under that players IP. So that any accounts they have ever played or accounts that they have owned. They will be banned. That is what it means. That is all.

 

How many people still play runescape? 75,000?
