iPad 2 screen cracked - buy a new ipad or fix?

So my iPad screen cracked, its not bad, I can somehow see perfectly cuz theres only one crack on the screen which you cant see while using it, but the main crack where its fucked is on the right side of the iPad.

I got the iPad 2 from school and still had to pay like $500 for it (32gb model), and I'm not sure if the school can fix or replace the iPad for free and teachers arent replying emails since its school holidays here in Australia.

If the school can't do anything about it, I either have to pay $279 to replace the iPad 2 or live with this crack which will get worse and worse over time. I'm thinking, I can sell a cracked screen iPad for what - $150/200? If things get to the point where I need to replace it, should I just sell this and get the new iPad 4?

 

It's cheapest to replace it yourself. There's thousands of guides on how to do it.

 

How much would it roughly cost? I just thought of getting it fixed from a 3rd party.

 

Still fixing it yourself would probably the easiest and cheapest option, I'd imagine there about $100. Check on ebay my friend.

 

Yeah checked, the screen and digitizer is like $40, and I'm gonna pay my friend $20 to fix it.

Don't ever pay for some company or business to fix your stuff lol, I ruined the LCD on my laptop and replaced it myself, paid 60 bucks for the LCD on eBay. Saved myself we'll over $150 and it took me 30 minutes to do minus the wait time in shipping.
