You can't refund things off of PayPal after 45 days. So if he donated most of it within 45 days, you should be concerned. And trust me, I've gotten scammed by the SpawnScape owner $80 & it wouldn't let me refund it b/c I said fuck it & tried to do it two months later..

 

Honestly to some people vouches don't mean shit either, and donator rank has no effect on how trustworthy someone is. Half the people that get banned have $5 hah.

 

Does nobody else think donations are to DONATE, yes DONATE to sythe? not for bs trust or w/e..? Maybe we wanna give back, what sythe deserves, hes put alot of effort into this.

If you deem yourself a normal member, as good as lets say me. Then there's no problem. But I think Moes is trying to say that you think you're trusted now since you donated 300$, and you expect everyone to go first etc..

@ OP:The rules are fine as it is in my opinion, if Sythe allows those people to donate it's their own responsibility if it goes wrong.

I agree with the underlying point. There should be a maximum sum one can donate via PayPal in a certain amount of time.

History as shown us that many have attempted to, and have successfully charged back PayPal donations after donating via that method initially, to only scam in the end. I'm not saying that everyone who does is, and will always be attempting to scam, however I definitely see it wise to limit it to a certain amount.

There should definitely be a cap on how much one can donate via PP within a short period of time. Either a limited time-frame cap, or place an Admin in charge of allowing/disallowing high summed donations in within a short duration, based on the members history and accreditations.

First you're forcing trust on donator ranks, and that is the major flaw of your argument. Donator ranks are not meant to be symbols of trust and if you think they are and if other people think they are then that is their fault. Only stupid people or people who haven't read any of the stickies, rules, or new user guides would go first or trust just because someone had donated several hundred dollars but no vouches and that isn't something we are going to be able to help. We can't stop stupid people, we can only react when their stupidity or laziness gets them scammed.

 

I'm pretty sure Matthew already has some kind of approval system for massive donations. I doubt he would just let any massive donation through. It's common sense.

There's more than a 90 day chargeback period... I recently got one from 120 days back.

Anywho, I'd never base trust on how much someone donates, though it does slightly add some form of consideration since said person wouldn't want to lsoe that donation rank.

The chances of people charging back from PP donations and not getting caught are highly unlikely, remember sythe has their i.p's etc.

@Moes your telling me right now that you don't put $50 donator in all of your titles, it catches peoples attention, most people trust donators more then a normal player yes.. but that doesn't mean he did it all for trust. Now as for the paypal limits, instead of limiting people, why not make it so after $100 of paypal donations you force them to open/close a dispute, this will solve the issue of chargebacks for the most part as they can't reopen a "I havn't recieved my item" Dispute. As for the unauthorized transactions the easiest way to win this dispute is for them to include a note with their sythe name, and a picture of a CC with the last 4 digits showing, and the name. Having the rest covered to protect themselves of course, While running my gold site i have found that you will win paypal disputes 99.9% of the time if you include the picture of that transaction, not including you can screenshot the ip that he has and see if it matches the creation ip of his paypal. Those are very simple ways to prevent chargebacks that take less then 5 minutes.. Just because he donated doesn't mean hes going to chargeback... I find it very sad that you have targeted him for this when he has yet to scam.
