I don't understand people's reasoning, this was already implemented and successful on a community that at their peak had more numbers and less scamming than sythe ever will. Waste a moderators time? Get more moderators. There's enough scamming going on in this community as it is so I dont understand how something that could possibly help the community could be a waste of time

I support this. Although, it's quite easy to tell who's legit on Sythe by how many vouches they have and just how their reputation is around the site. I've never been scammed because I always go to the big sellers.

    Cheers

and as for segregation, why would someone not want to be market verified? are people that unsure about themselves to not want to be a verified market seller/buyer? it would do nothing to change business, if you had to be verified to buy and sell then obviously people dedicated enough would get verified, whoever didnt obviously did not do so for a reason. i got scammed by someone who seemed to be a normal community member, had vouches was active and seemed to be a really nice person, that didnt stop him from scamming me and losing his account that was a month old. if he had been verified and i was given his personal information you better beleive he would have had a dildo on his doorstep the next day, and he would deserve it.

it worked for rscheata because they put forth the effort into implementing it.

vouches and reputation mean nothing, we are human.

I think maybe this should just be for major gold dealers, say you have to be 1 year old, 1k+ post, 100+ vouches to obtain it. The post could be changed as many large sellers only post on their threads, also if somebody has 500 vouches they don't need to be a year old etc.. so it's not trouble for the staff to verify applicants.

Why not make a special usergroup that has to let an admin/mod hold a certain amount of money, and then they'd be verified to trade up to max that amount. For example, you'd have a $500 bond, and thus a '$500 verified trader rank".

People who traded with you would be able to get the money back out of that bond if you did scam.

That way you can slowly work your way up, starting at like $10.

You do understand how hard this would be to implement, also it would be riddled with scammers doing a charge back on their bond when they scam.
Things are fine how they are, just use a OMM and you will be fine.

Well, it's basically the same as a $300 rank to be honest, you can charge those back as well...

Make them send it through the mail or western union.

All everyone talks about is time this waste of time that Time time. How long do you think it took to set up the donations center. Was that a waste of time. People donating money for ranks and using said rank to make them seem more legit? If this was implemented people would have more to lose than a log in name.

Buying a $500 trusted trader rank is just asking for trouble.. Ever think of the cons before the pros?

Support, we'd then have a real reason to use Mini Ranks as well. There should be a general "trusted trader", whose members nominate themselves and are voted in my the entire community. Then I suggest a "tiered trader" who's nominated in by staff or a minimum tenure in "trusted traders" and voted in by staff.

By the way, I absolutely and vehemently oppose being able to buy your way, or being required to pay your way into any sort of "trusted" position, it's basically donating for trust, which is ENTIRELY baseless and flawed. Many donors are sketchy.

I have never supported this suggestion and I am not changing now. This creates an unfair market dynamic by saying 'here are all of the traders, but these are the only ones you should actually trade with' and along with that it means that the verified sellers artificially inflate their prices, and their threads will be pretty much stuck at the top of the chosen markets even more than they are now. Sythe has always been about allowing a fairly even playing field for all traders so you could start with nothing, and work your way up through the ranks to become a large trader. Creating a schism between normal traders and 'verified traders' doesn't really match the philosophy that seems to have always been around sythe.

Sythe's philosophies aren't 100% correct or efficient. We're changing a lot of fundamentals on how sythe is ran, EG rules, infractions, and bans. Saying "this is how it's always been and this is how it'll stay" is counter intuitive to everything we're working towards, and to bettering the site in general IMO. Stagnation will kill us. We need to try something new, SOMETHING isn't working otherwise we'd have never dropped so much activity

I support, to be quiet honest I don't think it would be a big deal. Also with the internet being the way it is today anyone can find out pretty much anything they want about you anyways. So, I don't see what the big deal is. If there is a lot of scamming, then this would be a solid way to prevent it.

    LMAO !

This is 2012 i sincerely dont know ANYONE outside of my grandmother who has a home phone.

Look taking down peoples information and phone confirmation costs money. As jack said most of this is covered by donating, i just dont see the point.

Even with this information people scam. (as many donors often end up doing) Its not like the cops could come knocking on their door to do shit, its not like any of this information could be used to do anything at all. (outside of doxing them, ddosing them or generally pestering them all of which aside from the possibility of pestering someone is against sythe rules).

    This is redundant.

Here's an idea. When I used to be in a huge dicing clan, we would have to put an investment in. Let's say you wanted to join the clan, you'd have to pay the owner 1B, which we could make $150 on here. You buy the Trusted Seller and if you ever want your money back you could trade the badge in, but if you were to scam you void your badge and money, and get banned.

    Just a raw thought^^
