Laberdoodle, isn't it? Cute dog, I also picked up a puppy for myself the other day, but rent at my apartment would jump up $50 in pet ownership fees.... Still tempted to get one though, but I'd need to invest to house train it, I couldn't deal with it shitting on my carpet

 

It's harder than it looks to have a puppy, I have/still am learning the hard way

 

I've witnessed first hand what you're saying. My sister seems to think she can raise a puppy, even though the last 5 have been poor, neglected (as far as attention, it was fed of course), and misbehaving little shits. Right now, after finally getting rid of her husky who tore up mother's yard and got itself ran over three times because it chews through collars somehow and runs away, she gets ANOTHER puppy. A Doberman who is now tearing up my sisters yard, runs away, is neglected, and chews up the side of her house because of how bored it is all day long. It's sickening.

I'd like to believe I could do 10x better, but I'm also realistic, which is why I haven't given into buying one yet

 

Just don't get a large breed like a husky or a doberman and it's not terrible. I have a labrador and he's, give or take some hyperness, an amazingly loving and intelligent, well behaved dog. I'd stay clear of large breeds, collies and springers - they have more intense needs imo.

You definitely need to be at home a lot, too. So probably not a good idea if you're working and live alone.

 

I have a roommate, but I work AND go to school, so I'd better hold off. I want a dog that looks like a lab but stays small, I was thinking shiba inu but there's hyperallergenic and I'm sensitive to cats.. I don't want it to develop into a dog allergy too

a beagle? They're relatively short haired. Although they are usually working dogs so they need a tonne of exercise and probably puppy training classes.
