Donation change

Its a little unfair that mods get UI's for free and everyone else has to pay $200.

I suggest a change to the donation perk amount.

Current:

$50: User Title
$100: Colored Title
$200: Custom UI

New proposed levels:

$50: User title
$75 Colored Title
$125: Custom UI

Those are much more reasonable considering your paying essentially hundreds of dollars just to get a pixel. Now i know what your thinking: The rich kids who already paid $200 bucks for a UI are gonna be pissed. Just show them the admin panel that should make them nerdgasm long enough to make them forget or some other arrangement could be arranged.

No. Moderators have earned it. Should stay at the prices that they are.

 

All i could come up with was troll ideas like "Mod for a day". Maybe slightly bigger dimensions on the UI? Are UI GIFs a thing?

 

Should have added: $200 donators need not chip in any comments, it will just be the same answer over and over from them. "No!"
They dont want the prices to lower because they think themselves of a higher level just because they paid money.

 

I do believe TDD had an animated UI and I think Matt's system still allows for them to be used, provided they have a transparent BG. Mod for a day is a no-go though I'm afraid.

 

It's one of the most desireable perks, and should remain so at the current donation level. Moderator's are worthy of a UI I think you'll agree.

 

Mods can't pick any UIs they want though.

 

UI Gif's aren't possible due to bandwidth I think, they'd just lag the site out. Maybe multiple UI's like what staff can have, that'd be good. Dimensions will just make it get out of hand, FireZ is slightly bigger (well, it looks it) and I think it looks strange.

I'd be totally up for it if the custom rank was lowered as well, but with $125 UI and then $300 Custom Rank it's dumb. $150 UI and $200 CR would be acceptable. I'm planning on donating more, so I'm not too biased.

And I hate seeing ranks broken down. Or one would have to donate $75 for a colored title, yet their rank would only say that they're a $50+ donor.

If this were to be implemented, we'll see a decline of new $200 donors. The jump for a custom rank would be $175 which would be huge. If you were to lower the custom rank to $200, then as Verts said, you'll have to think about something $300+ gets.

Maybe make it possible to have UIs (e.g) for like a month. Pay a fee and you get it. Would have to be balanced where donating $200 would be more than worth it in the long run. While those who cannot cough up the big jump from 100 to 200 could still try the perks and enjoy it for a small fee, temporarily.

Mods help the site, they put time into it. I think it's only fair they get some sort of reward in return.

 

Mods get perks because they contribute a lot to the site. If they are douche bags and get demoted they will many times lose those perks. If they aren't and have contributed a lot they deserve having them as their contributions are worth more than the donation levels for the perks.

 

I think it's fair at this moment. I'd love to see animated UIs for higher donors.

Yeah the current donation perks just dont wanna make you donate, theirs really nothing special about them atm. The $300 perk is good, but its ALOT of money...

 

You are NOT buying a UI, you are donating. AND at a certain level you get certain perks.

It's not a shop. Plus what's the point of lowering, more people will have it, etc.

 

Well alot of people only donate for the fact that you get UIs, perks, etc. On the other hand I get where you are coming from where people want to donate for the sole purpose of helping sythe and perks are a bonus. Although I do think that the perks are fine at the $ value they are at right now.

 

I am with Moh on this one, but to add I think there needs to be some intermediate stuff to encourage donators to donate more. There are only a handful of perks that aren't very useful, I mean yeah a UT is cool and a UI is cool but there needs to be something like more PM space or special tools (nothing that creates an uneven trading place, but something that makes thing more convenient for traders. Maybe an 8 hour notification to bump your threads, or something like that.)

 

I don't see how you think it's unfair, given the time, effort, and work mods pour into this site, not to mention the need to be distinguished so new users can find them easier, but I support lowering the donor level for UIs and adding more features at $200. Animated UIs is a cool idea, I can't think of any more ideas ATM though

 

Can't do more PMs unless Matthew complicates the system by adding more usergroups.
